That silly old bear Winnie The Pooh is heading to the big screen – but this is one flick you want the kids to avoid.

Our favourite, honey-loving bear is turning the 100 Acre Wood into a bloodbath, and it’s breaking our hearts!

The first trailer for the movie Winnie The Pooh Blood and Honey has just been released, and if you’re a horror fan, you can take a look below, otherwise skip ahead to find out how this has actually happened.

It may seem unthinkable that our beloved Pooh Bear is now featuring in a gory horror movie, but it’s perfectly legal. According to Plagiarism Today On January 1, 2022, ‘works that were first published in the year 1926 lapsed into public domain’.

While Disney has had the rights to the Winnie The Pooh book and its characters since 1961, A. A. Milne’s original Winnie The Pooh book is now free of copyright.

That means anyone is able to copy, publish, distribute and create new works based on the book. However, Milne actually wrote four Pooh books, and the second, third and fourth books are not yet in the public domain. So some of the characters, for example Tigger, are still a few years away from being up for grabs.

So that brings us back to the Winnie The Pooh horror movie, which is a nightmarishly gruesome flick that centres around Christopher Robin taking his fiancee to 100 Acre Wood, where he used to play with his childhood friends. But Pooh and Piglet can’t be found, and there’s a makeshift grave for Eeyore.

Apparently the pair didn’t take too kindly to being abandoned in the woods for the past few years, and they’re exacting revenge.

The movie is reportedly due for release later this year. Will you be going to see it? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Are they really struggling to find ideas for new movies or something? Not something you want your littlest ones to stumble across…

    • I think they are, there is a lot of remakes or copying/similar ideas coming out.

  • This type of movies is not good for anyone’s mind. It’s sad how the original movie is misused.

  • I love horror but now you’ve destroyed my daughters favourite characters I can’t watch this or condone it as it’s a destroyer of childhood fun.

  • This is something I wouldn’t watch nor would I like any of my kin to watch it. What an awful thing to do to a lovely story. Thanks for warning us all on this site.

  • Are you serious? I am not even going to watch the trailer. I will not sanction this movie by doing so. No, I will not tarnish my memory of Winnie the Pooh and what I read to my children. What a blemish on the character of Pooh. The creators of this movie are so sick and twisted. The people who created this movie need help with their imaginations for even thinking of creating a set of horror out of this wonderful character. Horrible indeed. I am not into horror movies at all. I like to put good things into my memory, not nightmarish visions that cannot be removed. Who would want that kind of memory? What’s next Paddington Bear?

  • No thank you, I don’t like horror movies. They’re not good for anyone’s mind.

  • Why would they do this! I can’t believe it is legal. Such a wonderful old children’s character should not be shown this way.

  • Why oh why, how appalling

  • I just watched the trailer and I’m not sure it looks right, kind of like those B-grade movies that don’t make it anywhere…
I doubt the real Winnie the Pooh would have turned this evil though!

  • Oh my gosh i hope the kids dont see this and get traumatised for it!

  • If this was April 1, then I would have suggested this is an April fools joke.

I really don’t like the idea of turning Winnie the Pooh into a horror movie. Just because you now have the ability to do something does not always mean you should do it. I hope it is not successful when it is released.
