WORLD NEWS: 3-day-old baby killed after mum left her side for seconds

Two dogs have a killed a 3-day-old baby after her mother left her on the couch and walked away for a few seconds.

Fresno Police Sgt. Dan Macias tells the Fresno Bee the girl’s mother had left the door open because it was hot and she thought the dogs were tied up in the back yard.

The baby died at a hospital shortly after the attack on Monday.

Police say the two male dogs, which are believed to be a mix of shar-pei and pit bull are owned by the 33-year-old woman’s brother, one of the dogs was known to be aggressive. The dogs were surrendered to the Central California Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. SPCA spokesman Walter Salvari says the dogs will be euthanized.

Police are continuing to investigate and charges have not been ruled out.

This is heart breaking. We all do what we can to protect our little ones. But to have two dogs attack your new bub is beyond belief. It would be so so shocking and something that would be so very hard to get over. And no the mother should not be charged. They werent her dogs and she didnt and none of us would think this could happen.

so terribly sad why leave baby alone,guess we can all ask these questions after event. Utter devistation words cannot express how I feel.Dogs will probably be put down too…

You cannot leave little ones alone unprotected for any length of time. Anything can happen and once they are gone there is no return for them. So sad…animals can be so unpredictable.
