Pierce Brosnan's daughter loses battle with cancer.

Our heart goes out tonight to Pierce Brosnan, his sons and the family of his daughter Charlotte, who died on June 28, 2013.

Her death signals the end of her courageous 3 year fight with ovarian cancer.

We all know only too well the pain of losing those we love and the nature of cancer is so indiscriminate it could happen to anyone at anytime.

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Brosnan said:

“On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and Lucas and brothers Christopher and Sean.”

Charlotte, 41 passed away in London surrounded by her family. Her husband Alex Smith will now find his way forward with their daughter 14 and son, 8.

Sadly, the Brosnan family is no stranger to ovarian cancer. Cassandra Harris, mother of Charlotte passed away in 1991 while married to Pierce. She also lost her mother to the disease whilst in her teenage years.

Tragedy can strike anyone, anywhere. Fame, fortune, good looks, none of that matters when it comes to battling hideous diseases like cancer. Cancer doesn’t discriminate. Prayers and hopes for strength and courage to everyone touched by this disease.

  I can only imagine how hard it must have been for him, as you say I think the worst thing to happen to a parent is a losing their child, just heartbreaking
