Kids are gross and eat everything and anything when they are little. We asked Mums what was the worst thing their child had eaten, here are some of the answers.

  1. My son was at preschool and a little girl pooped in the sand pit and coated it with sand then offered it to my son and told him it was a treat. So he ate it all! J. Edwards, Facebook
  2. In one week my 8 month old ate 2 lizard poos off the verandah and to top it off I found him chewing on a big toe nail!! K.Egan, Facebook.
  3. When I saw my 1 year old chewing on something that I didn’t give him, I stuck my finger in his mouth to see what he was eating and had pulled out a roach with wings that was still sorta alive and half chewed up. R.Harrison, Facebook.
  4. My 2.5 yr old boy found a chip he had dropped in our yard a few hrs earlier. It was covered in ants. He picked it up, I said its got ants all over it so you can’t eat it now – yucky!! Oh yes I can he thought and ate the chip ants and all!!! T.James, Facebook.
  5. My daughter, when she was about 13 months old and crawling about on the patio, picked up a dead snail that had been baked hard on to the patio and popped it in her mouth! D.Waite, Facebook.
  6. Snails. He tried to smuggle them in his bed room so I couldn’t find them and take them off him and he could eat them later. V.Honey, Facebook.
  7. My boy ate a gecko, while it was still alive. S. Matthews, Facebook.
  8. Mouth full of dog biscuits. He screamed at me when I scraped it from his mouth lol! L.Patondodd, Facebook.
  9. Cat poo with a side of kitty litter ugh!!! C.Lim, Facebook.
  10. The old hard chewed bubble gum she found in a random car park. R.Pushie, Facebook.

  • These are quite funny but stomach churning. My son as a toddler ate some dried white dog poo and it made me vomit. I brushed his teeth every time I looked at him that day.

  • Bahahaha some of these things are really grosse. My daughter when she was 18 months ate the blue loo thing out of the toilet. My walls were blue and she smelt like a toilet

  • Oh so funny, are these for real. I guess they must be true stories.

  • ewwwwww gross!! My mum told me my big sister used to feed me snails out of the garden quite regularly, mum would come outside and I would have a green ooze dripping from my mouth

  • And my now late Grandma nearly had a heart attack when she found us eating sour sobs. A stray cat or dog might have “weed”on it.
Imagine if she was alive to read these answers.

  • They all sound disgusting. The worst a family member has eaten was a pie baked entirely of mud.

  • Haha, kids will eat anything! My son wasn’t that adventurous but my Mum loves to tell the story of me poohing in the bath and eating it. I have to take her word for it as I have no memory of it and no long-lasting effects.

  • All I CAN SAY IS WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF YUCK! LOL!!!

  • All of these completely gross me out. The worst I’ve found my child eating was a caterpillar – which seems dreamy compared to some of these on the list.

  • I thought my daughter was bad till I read some of these. For some reason she thought snails were very tasty and would often come back in to the house with foam frothing in her mouth because she was eating live snails. First time, not knowing, I took her to the doctor thinking she was having a fit. Couldn’t stop her till she was about 3, so had the problem for around 2 years.
However, she would be immaculately clean from head to toe, even though she fossicked for the snails, just asked me to wash her hands which was the only dirty thing on her, even her white frock was still white with no trace of what she’d been up to.

  • My eldest (now 5) has never eaten anything too bad (that I know of!)
My middle child (now 3) however is another story! At 4 months old she was fed kangaroo poo by big sister (then 2) from our front lawn. She had been in the walker on the deck while I did some weeding, found the turd down her top when I picked her up when she started crying – there was black bits around her mouth too.
Then when she was not much older she did a fast swipe and lick when I was trying to change her nappy, again a poo.
There was something else that she ate that was pretty gross too, but I’ve gone blank on what it was!
Thankfully so far my youngest hasn’t eaten anything disgusting! He’s only 8 months old though!

    • Just remembered that my eldest did actually eat dog biscuits.
And both daughters still eat food they’ve dropped on the ground. They aren’t pleased when I stop them at times, like when it’s been dropped in the garden bed where the neighbours cat likes to do its business.

  • Kids don’t seem to think anything of it. When my sister was young she would eat dirt and sand with the greatest ease. I used to hear it crunch in her mouth and encourage her not to do it, but it didn’t stop her. My daughter at a roach when she was little and she loved dog and cat biscuits as well. One day I was in the kitchen and I heard her saying ‘one for you’ and ‘one for me’ I went out to see what she was doing and she was sharing the dogs biscuits with him, much to his interest and surprise and he just let her do it. Yes it’s amazing what children place in their mouths. Yuk.
