Alarmist headline on antivax pamphlet currently being dropped in letter boxes around the country.

“VACCINES killed my baby,” the pamphlet reads.

The person behind the pamphlet is anti-vaccine campaigner Stephanie Messenger.

She shares her story on the pamphlet, saying that she did the right thing and vaccinated her baby and then he started to slowly die.

Her son, Jason Drew, spent months undergoing examination at the Children’s Hospital in Camperdown in 1977 before he was diagnosed with an inherited genetic disorder called Alexander’s Disease.

“They said it was genetic. They went on to explain why I should never have any more children as they could all be inflicted with this condition.”

Ms Messenger insists, “Vaccination killed him, I have no doubt.”

“Deaths from vaccines are being hidden from the public,” the pamphlet states.

Ms Messenger also associates SIDS with infant vaccines.

She says she now has “3 healthy, totally unvaccinated children, who have never had a childhood disease. Unlike their vaccinated friends who have often succumb to the diseases they have been vaccinated against. I kept these children fit and well using what is provided by nature – natural foods, clean water, sunshine, clean air, exercise, adequate sleep and a loving and nurturing environment.”

Adding, “It saddens me to know there are thousands of babies out there being damaged, disabled or lost every year and they have no voice to stand up against the powerful drug companies and, what is now an industry, and scarcely a profession – medicine.”

anti vax letter

As Jane Hansen writes for Herald Sun, “Vaccines are under incredible scrutiny for safety. There is no “cover-up” as Ms Messenger alleges.”

In August we shared that people are outraged doctors are advising anti-vaxxers how to dodge ‘no jab, no play’.

In 2018 we will see a clamp down on anti-vaxxers with new laws to be introduced banning unvaccinated children being enrolled in schools.

  • Just as people who are pro vaccination, this woman has every right to be anti vaccination.

  • First of all, she has every right to be sad and angry at the passing of her child but she doesn’t have the right to make stuff up. This lady “believes” vaccination killed her son, belief isn’t proof. Imagine if everyone took her stance — polio, measles, chickenpox and the like would still be rampant today. Her children enjoy good health because of the responsible people in the community who do vaccinate. Still, she has an agenda, beliefs, a conspiracy theory and many platforms at her disposal so there’ll be no changing her mind anytime soon.

  • Her loss deserves every sympathy – however I support vaccinations.

  • Trauma can make people believe anything in their search for something solid to hold onto but the people who enable these fear campaigns need to be held accountable. There is a correlation between low vaccine rates and re-emergence of diseases or high cases of disease and to have more innocent people suffer due to misinformation is unforgivable.

  • Some School Principals have been asking parents if their child has been vaccinated since the late 1980s. I know of one example at a SA Public School. There a few inherited genetic diseases that kill children, some a lot younger than others Unless the Mum’s younger children have been tested, she may find they develop it later. It is believed that some cases of SIDS may have been heart defects. I know a St. John Ambulance Volunteer who has been called to SIDS cases. They are the cases he dreads more than any other. He reckons each one’s nappy had a very strong ammonia type smell.

  • Indeed. I was shocked reading that too.

  • So she had three more children even after being told there was a risk they may also die slowly? Does she not understand how genetics work?

  • Not sure. There is a medical explanation why her child sadly died. For what I understand the Alexander’s Disease is a progressive disease. It was just a coincidence that the symptoms came out around the same time the child had the vaccination.
