Aldi has issued an urgent recall of its stainless steel coffee mugs amid fears the products could cause serious burns.

‘The recall is due to the lid not locking securely,’ the retailer said on Tuesday.

“ALDI takes product quality and safety seriously and wishes to advise all customers of a recall of our Expressi Stainless Steel 400mL Travel Mug, sold at ALDI Stores from 10th May 2017 to 06th June 2017.

The recall is due to the lid not locking securely. On the rare occasion this may occur, the lid may project off under pressure and there is a risk of scalding.

Customers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full cash refund. We apologise for any inconvenience.”

  • Surely they could test these a bit better before they mass produced and sold them?

  • There are other brands that don’t seal properly when the “lid” is closed.
A few brands need recalling. I wish I had a list of some I have tossed out because of this problem

  • Pity the gurus that come up with these ideas don’t THOROUGHLY test the product prior to putting it on sale.
