A fun summer art activity involving just 3 ingredients!

  • 1 Ice tray
  • 1 Food dye of varying colors
  • 6-10 Toothpicks
  • 1-2 Paper

  1. Mix food dye with water ( one drop goes a long way!) and pour into ice tray
  2. Add a toothpick within each cube
  3. When frozen, take it out and make your child will LOVE making their own ice dye art! Fun and easy!

Food dye gets messy on hands! But messy art is fun art!

  • this looks like a good one, although might go easy on the dye so it doesn’t stain. maybe laying out a giant piece of paper to create on rather than smaller sheets.

  • I used this recipe to make wrapping paper for Christmas gifts. My little one had so much fun with creating ‘watercolour’ patterns. Thank you for sharing this idea, it is a great summer outdoor activity for little ones.

  • I’m unsure if this will work or not but i’ll try it anyway and also this could be useful without the toothpicks as coloured ice cubes for kids drinks.
