The heartbroken family of a mum who died during childbirth have spoken out about their loss.
The heartbreaking story of a Queensland mum who died after suffering complications from a caesarean section while delivering her first child broke our hearts yesterday.
Amanda Sheppard’s family say the Rockhampton mum-to-be was in an “extremely happy place” as she prepared for her first child’s birth.
They said her death had “completely shocked and devastated our family’’.
Amanda tragically passed away on Monday from complications relating to a caesarean section while giving birth to her first child at Rockhampton Base Hospital in Queensland.
Her baby girl, Willa, is in a stable condition and due to return home with Mr Sheppard later this week.
“While mourning the loss of our dearest Amanda, the focus at this time is on ensuring Willa’s safe transition from hospital to home later in the week,’’ they told The Courier Mail.
“Her caring and loving personality led her to become a very special person in all who knew her, and particularly her sisters, nieces, and nephews who she devoted special attention to.
“Our country girl at heart with a love of all music and a passion for cooking, would always arrive with something special that everyone would enjoy.”
A GoFundMe page was set up by a close family friend and has raised over $20,000.
