Bindi Irwin wows judges in season opener for Dancing With the Stars

Starting the routine in her zookeeper khakis Bindi Irwin has blown us away with her first appearance on Dancing With the Stars in America. Taking the stage with her dance partner, Derek Hough, the pair strutted their stuff to Elton John’s Crocodile Rock, a nod to Bindi’s late father Steve Irwin, and we are sure he would have been proud.

After finishing her routine Bindi chatted to the judges about her Dad saying “I think that the real reason I’m doing this is to make him proud, and everyone back at home in Australia proud,”. Well, we think you have done just that Bindi!

The 17 year old tied first place for the night with former Backstreet Boy, Nick Carter, after receiving an impressive score of 8 from each judge.

After the performance had aired she took to Instagram to thank her dance partner and express her excitement

We can’t wait to see how Bindi performs throughout the series, we are sure she will continue to do us proud!

it seems Bindi will be judged by Aussies very harshly…. Sad she has lived her whole life in front of a camera (don’t get me started on that)… Good luck Bindi. Live long and happily x

Wasn’t that just super! Steve would be so proud. I know I as a mum would be.
