Police are negotiating with a man who is armed with a gun in Epping.
There are believed to be 20-30 police on the scene. Roads around the area have been closed between Howard Street and Davisson Street.
Police attended the property at 2pm as part of an ongoing crime investigation.
The man is refusing to surrender and is reportedly armed with a handgun
Police are trying to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the stand-off.
Heavily armed officers have been at scene since 2pm today, as part of an ongoing investigation by the Darebin Crime Investigation Unit.
It is believed the man earlier exited the residence, and then returned inside.
Police are expected to be at the scene for “some time”, with road diversions in place.
Media helicopters have been told to leave the area.

One man has been arrested as police continue to negotiate with an armed man holed up inside a Melbourne home with a number of other people.
The arrested man has not been confirmed as the 26-year-old man suspected of being armed with a handgun, police said according to 9 news.
Two children were also seen leaving the Epping property shortly after 6.30pm today.
Earlier, investigators said other people at the Wedge Street property were “not being held against their will”.
Police said the incident was not terror-related and poses no risk to the public.
