Is This The WORST Show To Be Aired on TV? Bride and Prejudice Left Hundreds of Viewers in Total Shock and Outrage.

Family drama went through the roof last night with the premiere of Bride and Prejudice kicking off on Channel Seven.

The controversial show follows six couples seeking approval from their families to marry the love of their life, but there was one person in particular that left viewers wanting to throw things at their TV.

Mum Fatima, one of the most determined mother-in-laws Australia has ever seen, insulted her son’s fiancée in a bid to break them up.

Sayat, 19, and his fiancée Jess, 20, are young and in love, but Sayat’s mother has made it very clear she’s willing to do anything to ‘destroy’ their wedding.

“Jess is very dirty,” Fatima said in a piece to the camera.
“Disgusting. She smells like cats.”

“I believe Jess is a sl*tty party girl,” she continued, “I don’t want my son to date a wh**e like that.”

Throughout the show, Fatima’s insults continued – only later she said them straight to Jess’ face when the couple attempted announce their engagement to Seyat’s parents.

Looking down on Jess, Fatima tells her son, “She knows why I don’t like her,” before continuing to criticise her cleaning skills, claim she’s made her son’s life worse and insult her for being from a different culture.

“I will never accept Jess,” Fatima says.

Jess is clearly hurt by the harsh words, but this seems to only provoke Fatima further, “She’s got no personality and she’s never happy! She’s always upset.”

At this point, the young woman reached breaking point and fled from the conversation to her bedroom where she broke down crying.

“She didn’t have to be so harsh,” Jess cried when Sayat – who was sitting right next to her – naively asked what’s wrong. “She just sits there like I’m nobody, like I’m not worth anything.”

“That’s not something someone should do. Especially not a mother, not somebody that’s supposed to be mature.”

Unsurprisingly, outraged viewers had plenty to say on Twitter with one person fuming, “What kind of woman, what kind of mother sits there and tears down another woman for no other reason than she enjoys being vicious?!”

Meanwhile another Lesbian couple Ange and Dylan had to deal with Ange’s disapproving father John, who is a devout Christian and firmly against same-sex marriage.

‘Don’t you want me to get married?’ Ange asks her father, with John bluntly responding: ‘Not to a woman.’

John strongly believes ‘being gay is a sin’ and doesn’t hold back in telling his daughter what he thinks.

‘That’d be like me marrying my sister, it’s totally wrong!’ he stated. ‘One way is right and one way is wrong.’

John also insists that his Ange’s sexual preference is just a phase and that she’s just confused.

A third young couple, Hank and Lily, have to deal with Hank’s conservative parents Terry and Margaret, who don’t approve of feminist Lily’s left wing values.

‘Lily is a controlling, feminist vegetarian!’ rages Margaret. ‘And it doesn’t gel with Hank or in the family.’

Terry added: ‘She’ll go on about women not getting equal pay and all the jargon that the lefty programs put out, and she believes it!’

Viewers are certainly not holding back with their comments –

“These mothers and fathers make me sick just accept your kids for who they are and who they love.”

“As long as they make your kid happy it should be all that matters.”

Do we really need to see this kind of bullying on our TV?

  • I was very shocked at this show and strongly beleive that the children (now adults) needed to forcefully tell their parents that when they mature and change their attitudes an apologise then they can be welcome but not before. They need to protect their partners and put them first.

  • These things happen, it’s not just on TV. I see these sort of prejudices every day. It’s totally unacceptable but it still does happen and will always happen unfortunately. I don’t think I could marry into a family that hated me so much.

  • Reality TV – always looking for some conflict to get people watching and talking, sounds like too much drama for me

  • It just reinforces this nastiest and bullying culture in social media, schools and workplaces. Wouldn’t watch it if you paid me.

  • What surprised me the most about this tv show is tha people! Why would you want to go on bational television and ge like that? You must know you’re gonna get slammed! Anything for five minutes of fame for some people

  • Shocking show – have only seen the ads. Ads or trailers are usually the best part of a film or TV series – and they are just so bad, I would never watch this show.

  • I don’t watch this show as I really can’t fathom why they would air their problems on national tv.

  • The bullying that goes on in this show is beyond ridiculous, however in saying that there are people out there that don’t approve of their child’s relationship and will do whatever to break them up even if it includes bullying and belittling!

  • No we don’t need to see this sort of bullying and put downs.

  • I supposed this show is educating how we are all very opinionated and it’s not always the best thing

  • All these shows are staged so you cant really take these seriously.

  • And this is why I don’t watch reality tv. It’s more a comedy and to me it all seems fake.

  • I find it almost a comedy. To imagine that people can behave so badly. Yes, it is bullying… at it’s worst! But it’s also demonstrating absolute bad an apalling behaviour. Hubby and I watched it with our teenage son and used it very much as teaching moments on how you behave, and in-laws, etc.

  • It’s the real world, people like this do exist and would do anything to tear their children’s lives apart if they don’t approve. It’s heartbreaking though. I wonder how I would react if one of my children were getting married to someone I really disliked! I hope I would just try and accept it and be nice to them. I don’t think I would have the capacity to be so harsh to my child I love.

  • Yes we need TV shows like this to show people how narrow minded and judgmental some people are, we can learn to be better people from seeing how our own comments can be bullying and judgmental too, even if they are nowhere near as bad as these on this show.

  • I cant take these shows seriously … How edited and acted are they ? unreality tv if you ask me !

  • I don’t watch that kind of crap. Who would want parents like that at their wedding anyway? Just walk away and leave them to their bitterness. Nobody needs people like that in their life. And family have no right to treat you like rubbish and pull the family car to get away with it.

  • Showing this sort of thing gets veiwers and thats ok by society. But bullying is a big no no nowadays but yet its ok on a show like this…..
    Sooooo wrong on many levels.
Too the mother in law that said ohhh she didnt even say happy mothers day well far out if untreated her a bit more like a daughter and earn that right to have it said to u.
To the mother in law of Lilly maybe your son uses the floors to be washed as an excuse to not stay for lunch because he is too polite to tell you he doesnt want to stay because you are a control freak….
And sir the father of the gay lass img wether her mum is alive or does would never ever have changed how she has turned out. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her at all and to say that if her mother was here it woukdnt be this way is a cruel and nasty thing to have said……..
If you lost your daughter tomorrow u would spend the rest of your life wishing her back gay or not ????‍♀️

  • Didn’t see last night episode.
I think its wrong that parents are like this to their own children. They are marrying a person that they are completely happy with.
Think it’s an eye opener to some people that parents or future in laws are really like that. If they are saying that on camera what do they say not on camera.
