The brazen bride ransacked a local garden to gather free wedding flowers for her reception…

A bride has been caught stealing from a private garden in an attempt to save money on her wedding flowers ninehoney reports.

The owner of the house and garden said that she was horrified when she woke up and discovered a number of expensive and rare flowers had been severed from her plants.

A Step Too Far

Sharing her story on Facebook, the gardener said that every rose in her garden had been taken as well as a number of other plants and pots.

“All I could do was prune the roses back and try to coax them into blooming again,” the woman wrote on Facebook.

It wasn’t until weeks later that an observant neighbour noticed that a wedding she had attended featured flowers suspiciously similar to those stolen from the garden.

“The tip-off was the petunias and impatiens in my very distinctive, white painted flowerpots being used as centrepieces,” she said.

Piece By Piece

As the woman listened to her neighbour, she began to piece together exactly what had happened to her garden.

“The bride apparently passed my house and saw my bloomed up garden,” she said. “(She) went out a couple of days before the wedding and cut all of my roses and took pots to use for her wedding.”

Despite her brazen behaviour, the bride was only handed a $50 trespassing charge and expressed no remorse for her actions.

“They’re just flowers. I needed flowers for my wedding and you have a whole yard full,” she said.

We can’t believe this bride’s total lack of concern or consideration for the garden owner. If you can’t afford flowers for your wedding, find other ways to decorate your venue!

  • Just flowers? Yet important enough to the bride. Cheap and nasty bride.

  • Just a 50 dollars fine? Not enough. Absolutely. The owner of the garden must have spent so much time tending to her flowers!!!
I had a very simple wedding, We were living in The Netherlands at the time. We wanted to marry on a Sunday at the Town Hall but it cost (back then) 300 guilders, that for us was too much. So we married on Monday, when it was free. 🙂

  • This is ridiculous! I wanted flowers for my reception but since I can’t afford them I came up with a different option for the decorations!! I can’t belive she stole someone’s flowers!

  • She should have put flowers in her wedding budget!

  • The hide of her. I saved buy sourcing as much as I could through the markets where you could make a deal directly with the supplier and I saved a fortune

  • I can’t believe she only received a $50 fine!! The flowers would have cost way more than that! If she couldn’t afford the flowers she should have cut back somewhere else in her wedding. I was lucky enough that my parents and in laws paid for my wedding and I got to have the wedding I always dreamed of.

  • Horrible and disrespectful behaviour ! This $50 fine is to laugh (or cry) about, far too low.

    • Roses cost a fortune and truly wrong in every way.

  • This is shocking and the fine is so small compared to the crime.
It is hideous to destroy someone else’s garden and take their plants and property.
A beautiful garden can cost a lot of money.
A florist would get a discount on purchasing flowers – so I just do not get this act.

  • How awful & disrespectful. Surely the charges/ fines for trespassing & stealing someone else’s property, I.e flowerpots, etc would be more than a $50 fine….

  • Oh goodness that’s horrible and so rude! They aren’t ‘just flowers’ they’re something someone has spent a lot of time and love nurturing. Gardens are expensive and time-consuming to maintain and to have someone come along and steal flowers after all that hard work would be very annoying. Especially seeing as she showed no remorse and only got a $50 fine. Hopefully karma will come her way

  • Very rude even After being caught. She definitely deserved more punishment and ordered to compensate

  • Wow some people are so entitled and rude! It’s not like she just took one flower – to even take pots is so brazen! Definitely needed a harsher penalty I think.

  • Oh no! I’ve got a rose bush and I wait eagerly for each bud to open, I’d be deviastated if I woke to see them all gone! (Which actually happened when my 2 year old pulled every bud off one day just before they bloomed) lol
I think she should probably have a bit more of a fine? She even stole pots.

  • She could have bought silk flowers and done the flowers herself. I know lady who did that. She lived in a country town and had not long before been to a friend’s wedding. The only florist in the area was about 20 minutes away and her friend’s flowers had deteriorated by the next day even though they were put in water.

  • What a cheek ! I’m sure if she had asked permission the lovely gardener would have Kent her the pits and let her cut some of the blooms ! No respect!

  • I went for wooden roses. Paid $50 for over 80 roses with diamonties and pearls. Looked amazing

  • I can’t believe she got off so lightly for stealing. I don’t think her excuse or reasoning is good enough. She never asked, how rude of her to think she was entitled to save money by stealing from someone’s garden. The fact they were rare and i think she said prize winning roses makes this lady’s crime even worse.

  • This is outrageous. I’m amazed she wasn’t charged with theft. She should have been.
