Novak Djokovic has shared some very exciting news. 

The tennis superstar took to social media to announce that he and wife Jelena have welcomed their first child together, tweeting:

The current world number one then confirmed the news via a statement on his website:

‘We are delighted to announce that Jelena Djokovic gave birth to a wonderful, healthy and a lovely boy, called Stefan. The birth went in the best possible manner, baby and the mother feel well.’

The couple, who have been together since 2005, tied the knot in Montenegro in July with the Serbian-born sportsman telling Hello! Magazine that ‘Seeing her for the first time in her wedding dress, smiling and walking towards me – she looked like an angel.’

‘I was trying to be present in that moment and memorise it,’ he continued. ‘I was focused on her, and her smile and our baby. It really was a perfect moment.’

But despite his personal life being full of excitement, the 27-year-old is still heavily focused on his tennis career, posting a new photo on Instagram with the caption:

‘First practice as a dad. Not a bad hit for an old man’

The tennis superstar is due to spend the next few days with his wife and newborn son, before heading to Paris to compete at the ATP Masters tournament.
