Natural Cycles app has been reported to Swedish authorities after numerous women using the app accidentally fell pregnant.

Stockholm’s Södersjukhuset hospital saw 37 women fall pregnant while using the app as a contraceptive in 2017.

Midwives at Stockholm’s Södersjukhuset reported the app to the Medical Products Agency after the numerous ‘accidental’ pregnancies.

Natural Cycles tracks the changes in a woman’s body temperature over their menstrual cycle to predict days with the lowest risk of pregnancy.

A study from September of 22,785 women found the app was 93 per cent effective in preventing pregnancies.

“No contraception is 100 per cent and unwanted pregnancies is an unfortunate risk with any contraception,” Natural Cycles told Mail Online in a statement.

Last year the app claimed it was better than the pill.  Read more HERE.

  • Would you remember to take your temperature on day 24 or 25? That is definitely when my Mum got pregnant with my little brother. She still had a period but only a very light one.

  • I don’t understand either that you rely on an app for contraception.
There is indeed no contraception method that is 100 per cent safe and unwanted pregnancies is an unfortunate risk with any contraception.

  • Seriously, why would anyone rely on an app for contraception? You can’t blame a machine for you falling pregnant. I can understand for falling pregnant etc but not for not falling pregnant. Crazy people!

  • Facepalm! There is no 100% effective birth control except abstinence, so if you really don’t want a pregnancy but abstinence isn’t for, you, use more than 1 birth control method.

  • Oh my! Who would use an app as contraceptive? 93% success is not good at all!!
