Dad points out the gender stereotyping of parent parking bay signs and sparks viral response.
Jamie Simpson, from Queensland, posted a picture online of himself and his daughter under a ‘parents with prams’ sign featuring a female silhouette.
‘Dads of Australia let’s band together and get these signs changed,’ Mr Simpson wrote on Facebook alongside the picture, shares Daily Mail.
‘Men can shop with their children too!! #menism
‘Share it around and show the dads of this world some love!!’
The picture shows Mr Simpson holding his young daughter in a shopping centre car park as he points up at a parking bay sign that has a silhouette of a woman pushing a young child in a pram.
The post has divided internet users. Some agreed with Mr Simpson while others think his idea is political correctness gone mad.
‘Oath mate when I’m a stay at home dad I want equality,’ one person wrote.
‘There are actual serious problems around the world and stupid people like you are concerned about a stupid sign,’ wrote another.
‘Get a grip on what’s important because you guys are straight up morons.’
” Real men don’t get offended at crap like this. #Growsomeballs!”
His post has attracted 30,000 shares.
His tongue in cheek post came after a recent storm of ridicule over pedestrian crossing lights being changed to include a female version for equality purposes.
Jamie is actually quite shocked at the reaction he has received and did follow up later with another post stating that people take things far too seriously.
Do you think he does actually make a good point?
