A dad whose six-year-old daughter dressed as Thor for Halloween saw nothing wrong with her costume until he uploaded a picture of her dressed up onto social media and the nasty comments started…

“My youngest daughter as Thor, her favourite superhero,” the proud dad wrote on Reddit alongside a picture of his daughter holding a hammer wearing the famous superhero suit.

“She loves dressing up, Spider-Man and Thor are her favourites.”

Sadly it didn’t take long before an anonymous troll took it upon themselves to make a nasty comment.

“This is how you create a lesbian,” they charmingly wrote. “Better counteract now.”

The dad soon hit back with a perfect response.

“So you think there is something wrong if my daughter was to grow up to be lesbian?” he wrote in response.

“As her father all I want for my daughter is for her to grow up, be happy and be healthy, if she grows up to be gay and that makes her happy so be it.

“You really need to take a look in the mirror and think do you want to be that person who tries to somehow in your twisted way insult a 6-year-old who is clearly happy dressed as her favourite superhero?”

“To be honest I don’t even see it as a girl dressing up as a boy, I just see my daughter really happy, having fun dressed up as Thor, I’m glad you feel comfortable dressing as your heroes now.”

Great response!  How would you have reacted to this troll?

  • Good on him for sticking up for her!

  • Love this dad’ comments about his little girl. So many of us wanted to be in our youth Superman or Spiderman because in those days Wonder Woman wasn’t around and all the witches and nasty people were women. Don’t think it would make this young lady a gay person, but I’m sure she was a happy person in her costume.

  • Why would anyone be critical of a little girl dressing up as thor? Ignore the trolls who have nothing better to do.

  • I think she looks great and very happy. I don’t see a problem with the costume at all.

  • She’s free to dress up and to pick whatever she liked who cares .

  • Children can dress up as whatever character they want and it does not define them. Dress ups are just that dress ups. Stunned that anyone can make such a leap and at the comment. Good on dad for his reply however he should not need to respond to such offensive comments.

  • What the ? unbelievable !

    • I know! You would think with all of the education and campaigns and the current times that such views and comments would be obsolete!

  • Always frustrates me that people feel the need to be so mean (and uneducated to one another) let alone to a child.
My daughter loves dressing up too and most of her faves are “boy roles”.
Do people still seriously think it means anything other than good pretend play?!
And who cares what their sexuality is as long as they are a nice person and they are happy.

  • Too many weak nasty people willing to make nasty comments from the safety of their keyboards.

  • What happened to innocent dress ups with children? Another case of Political Correctness gone pshyco. Children grow up fast enough fast enough. Let them have some fun first.

  • Good one dad you responded well!

  • Perfect response from the dad. As long as she’s happy, who cares who she dresses as or falls in love with.

  • Good on the dad for taking a stand against her! Hope the little girl had a great time

  • If you don’t have anything nice to say, it’s probably better not to say anything. That girl is clearly so happy. Be happy for her.
