We all know that life as a mother can be very busy. The demands of family life can certainly take their toll on how we feel on the inside and how we look on the outside. Do you ever appear tired, unrefreshed, or drawn in your reflection in the mirror? Are there age-related changes now that just weren’t there before, even yesterday? Nothing an island holiday wouldn’t fix, right? But who has the time or money for that! Today the enRich team would like to introduce you to dermal fillers as of way of refreshing your look and enhancing your natural beauty.
What are Dermal Fillers used for?
As we age, we tend to lose volume from our face, which results in areas of hollowing, flatness, unwanted lines, and sagging or crepey skin. Dermal Fillers are injectable products that allow us to correct these problems. By restoring volume and improving skin texture, we can achieve a more youthful appearance. Dermal Fillers also enable us to plump, enhance and reshape the features that define our face. Less is definitely more, and at the enRich clinic, we are dedicated to creating a natural look that is the best version of you.
What areas are most commonly treated with Dermal Fillers?
The lines most commonly treated with Dermal Fillers include the nasolabial folds (between the nose and outer mouth), the marionette lines (between the outer mouth and jaw), the vertical lip lines (above the upper lip), and sometimes those around the eyes (or ‘crow’s feet’) or the frown lines (between our brow). The areas that require extra volume and definition typically include the cheeks, the hollows under the eyes (or ‘tear troughs’), the temples, the jowls or jaw line, the chin, and more commonly, the lips. In addition, Dermal Fillers can be used to correct scarring & pitting of the skin due to acne or trauma, and can even provide a rejuvenation process for aging face, neck, or hands.
What are Dermal Fillers made from?
Dermal Fillers are injectable products made from hyaluronic acid, a sugar that is naturally found in our skin. They are non-permanent and are broken down by the body over time. Ultimately this means they are safer and even reversible, although we are sure you will love the result.
How are Dermal Fillers administered?
Dermal Fillers are administered using a very fine needle or cannula, a blunt ended device that pushes blood vessels and nerves safely aside while injecting, minimising side effects. Depending on the area being treated, you may wish to apply a local anaesthetic cream before your appointment or the doctor may use a local anaesthetic injection to numb the area prior. Often ice is all that is needed to increase your comfort during the procedure. Treatment time typically takes anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes and the results are immediate.
How long do Dermal Fillers last?
Treatment results usually last for at least 6 months and sometimes up to 18 months, depending on the thickness of the product used, the site of the injection, and the individual. However, it is necessary to have a ‘top up’ treatment intermittently to maintain your new look. Your enRich doctor can tailor a treatment program to address your ongoing individual needs.
Do Dermal Fillers have any side effects?
You may experience some swelling in the first 48 hours or bruising for up to one or two weeks, so timing of Dermal Filler treatment is very important. Infection is also a rare complication but careful measures are taken to minimise this risk. Unlike other clinics in Australia, at enRich only doctors provide treatment with injectable fillers and have the skills and knowledge to assist you should any complications arise.
Is there anything I can do to minimise side effects of Dermal Fillers?
Before the procedure it is important to avoid anything that may thin the blood for one week prior. This includes Aspirin and anti-inflammatories (such as Nurofen, Brufen, Naprogesic, Ponstan or Voltaren), as well as fish oil or excessive fish consumption.
After the procedure to reduce swelling it is essential to ice the area, sleep in an upright position, and avoid exercise and alcohol consumption for 24 hours. We can also offer you a recovery cream and laser treatment to further assist with further minimising bruising.
