Christmas is a special time for gift giving to family and friends though we all know that it can get expensive. Here are some great DIY gifts that the kids can make as gifts and everyone will love receiving!

These fingerprint Reindeer Christmas ornaments are adorable and so easy to do.

Buy some plain little frames, get the kids to decorate them anyway they like and add a photo – voila, you have the perfect Christmas ornament keepsake.

Santa hand impressions are so much fun to create, see how to make them right here.

  • My daughter wanted to make a cake for our neighbour who kindly always give us eggs and let the girls feed the chooks. We thought we would use our woolies Christmas decorations to decorate the top. The cake was a hit!

  • We always do homemade gifts and decorations. I am quite the fan of personalised baubles. Also remember the old school magazine folded Xmas trees?

  • Another way is to draw round your child’s hand or foot on whatever paper, thin cardboard or other material of your choice, cut it out, draw on it and use them as gift cards. Depending on the age your child you can let them do the entire thing or do some of it yourself for safety and supervise the rest of it. One year my niece made “chains from coloured paper + offcuts ffrom wrapping presents both that year and the previous one and gave it to Grandma a week early so she could hang it up as a decoration around the window frame along the wall to door frame then to a large window. It took pride of place for quite a few Christmas Days until eventually it collapsed. That meant much more and gave great pleasure to my Mum than an expensive present.
