Article Eight-year-old boy caught up in violent home invasion

An eight-year-old boy has been involved in a terrifying home invasion in Sydney’s south west.

Police say two men burst into the Eighth Avenue home in Campsie just after 3.30am and threatened the boy’s father.

The duo then allegedly demanded property from the 51-year-old man before slashing his leg and fleeing.

Police said the man’s eight-year-old son was home at the time.

The man and his young son were both taken to hospital where the 51-year-old man was treated for a cut to his leg.

Police said the man’s injury was not considered life threatening.

Fortunately, the eight-year-old boy was not injured.

Police said initial investigations suggested the incident may be targeted.

Officers established a crime scene at the house and investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information that could assist police with their investigation is urged to come forward.

  • Non life threatening injuries doesn’t mean the condition is critical or serious.
    Hopefully the 8 year old boy didn’t witness the attack as the trauma would be huge. At the least he probably suffered from shock which in itself can be very dangerous. Unfortunately even is the lad was asleep he was probably disturbed by the noise anyway. Hopefully they both make a quick recovery. If htey need counselling I hope it is available quickly.

  • So scary!! Luckily that they didn’t attack the child. I hope the father will soon be able to go back home.
    And I hope they will find who did this to him!!

  • It does sound like a targeted home invasion and thankfully the injuries sustained were not life threatening.
