Perth family left mourning the death of their two-year-old daughter.

A young couple are mourning the death of their two-year-old daughter after an SUV driven by her father hit her in the driveway of their Inglewood home.

The toddler was rushed from her Crawford Road home to Princess Margaret Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.

Neighbours said they heard a loud scream come from the home.

It is understood the girl was outside her family home when she was struck.

Neighbours described the little girl as “gorgeous, happy and energetic”.

“It’s a very close neighbourhood, everyone loves them and we all love each other here,” one neighbour said.

Police will prepare a report for the WA Coroner.

  • One problem is that front screen doors are lower than they used to be and toddlers can reach up and open them at a much earlier age than they used to be. They don’t need the keys, they just push the latch down it is so easy. I have a 3y.o. who can reach the wooden door handle too – could before this last birthday.

  • Such a tragic accident. My condolences to her family.

  • Oh my goodness. That’s so sad. How will that father live with himself

  • Reading such stories always brings tears to my eyes. It’s about time reversing cameras were compulsory. Once you have a reversing camera, you truly appreciate how blind you are reversing without one. So horribly devastating for this family.

  • oooh! that would be so tough for them all! i hope they all get counselling. i can’t imagine what they are going through!

  • Yes, I just read it. Still too many accidents happen in the driveways. How devastating! Poor little girl!! :-(

  • oh no :( what a horrible tragedy – that poor father must be so distraught – condolences to their family and friends

  • My thoughts and love go out to this family

  • What an absolute tragedy. The poor father will feel guilty for the rest of his life. Thoughts are with the family. RIP little one x

  • What a tragic way to start new year. Thoughts are with the family.
