Perth family left mourning the death of their two-year-old daughter.

A young couple are mourning the death of their two-year-old daughter after an SUV driven by her father hit her in the driveway of their Inglewood home.

The toddler was rushed from her Crawford Road home to Princess Margaret Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.

Neighbours said they heard a loud scream come from the home.

It is understood the girl was outside her family home when she was struck.

Neighbours described the little girl as “gorgeous, happy and energetic”.

“It’s a very close neighbourhood, everyone loves them and we all love each other here,” one neighbour said.

Police will prepare a report for the WA Coroner.

  • One problem is that front screen doors are lower than they used to be and toddlers can reach up and open them at a much earlier age than they used to be. They don’t need the keys, they just push the latch down it is so easy. I have a 3y.o. who can reach the wooden door handle too – could before this last birthday.

  • Reading such stories always brings tears to my eyes. It’s about time reversing cameras were compulsory. Once you have a reversing camera, you truly appreciate how blind you are reversing without one. So horribly devastating for this family.
