Simon Hooper decided to share ‘real’ photos of his crazy life as a Dad of 4 daughters under the age of 9 and not post ‘perfect’ parenting photos we so often see on the internet.

Simon started an Instagram account @father_of_daughters to share his photos and he already has a following of 573 thousand people from around the world and his followers are growing steadily.

“My whole account is to show a realistic view of what parenting is like from a parent’s perspective,” Simon told HuffPost. “There is way too much sugarcoating when it comes to parents, so I wanted to share what it’s really like and provide a bit of humor at the same time.”

Working from home sounds great, however the reality doesn’t always match up with the image your mind creates. Due to a family scheduling error, instead of watching fraiser in my dress gown with a laptop on my lap, drinking endless (hot) tea & generally living like a 19 yr old version of me, today I was accompanied by clemmie & 2 work experience kids. They say “many hands make light work” – Well that’s simply not true, unless the “work” that’s refered to involves watching toddlers scale/fall off furniture like drunk lemmings, blocking small hammer like fists from smashing the life out of laptop keyboards or watching 1 of the work experience kids shitting herself while speaking on a conference call with New York. That was a real highlight. #workingfromhome #dontlookatmeintheeyeswhenyoudothat #triplethehandsquadupletheefforrt #FOD #workingparent #dadlife #realparenting #father_of_daughers #instadad A post shared by Simon, also known as FOD (@father_of_daughters) on

I’m pretty sure that baby led weaning was invented by a sleep deprived parent who was on baby number 2 or 3 and was sick & tired of mashing / blending food into a nondescript paste. They decided to leave their kids to fend for themselves while they drank a hot drink, stared at a wall & microslept. Over time, more shattered owners of small humans rebelled and rose up against their pint size oppressors & before you knew it, a whole new baby feeding movement had begun. Now parents everywhere have a legitimate reason for slacking off and saying proudly, while others look on in disbelief at the desimation on /around the table “its ok, were doing baby led weaning”. Brilliant. It just takes an extra 30 mins to clear up now. #imjoking #iknowitsalegimatetrainingmethodsodonthaveago #parenting #babyledweaning #FOD #fatherofdaughters #dinnertime #twins #dadlife #instadad

Clemmie’s out this evening so i was in charge of dinner and bedtime. The traditional picnic plate has been overdone recently (random things chucked on a plate and hoping the kids still find it fun and not see through my laziness) so I really switched it up a Gear and gave them pizza. Just to help service along, I cracked open the bottle of @hernogin i was given for xmas – no, im not despressed or unhappy, I’m just partial to a good gin, however I feel I may have not appreciated this award winning tipple fully though as I accompanied it with cold half chewed pizza i’d rescued from the floor using the international 3 second rule and some flat tonic that had been left open my Anya. And yes I’m drinking out of a childrens bottle. I didn’t put the dishwasher on this morning and now it’s all I can find. We reap what we sow I believe the saying goes. I applaud Simon for sharing some honest parenting photos, we need more of them. I truly love to see someone posting both good and the hard times as a parent.

  • Good on you. These are fantastic and real and true. So much of what we see online is only the good, photoshopped, best looking stuff. Great to see another truth.

  • Great photos.
Is the Simon the Dad who was writing posts quite awhile ago who is raising his children alone?

  • I do wish Simon had told us the story of why the veggie container was in the toilet.

  • My honest parenting photo would have my 3yr old girl with Down Syndrome in it, sticking her hands in her potty, smearing poo all over herself, licking her fingers and grabbing my legs with her soiled hands :) I love her too bits !!

  • Nobody ever gets dressed unless we have to be somewhere and you frequently hear “have another bit of cheese, I’m not peeling an apple for you”.
