Hello!

Emily Skye makes a living from helping women achieve their fitness goals, and celebrating healthy, strong bodies. But the Aussie mum-of-two says after losing the weight she gained in her second pregnancy, she’s been subjected to cruel jibes and nasty comments.

The fitness influencer, who has a following of 2.7 million on Instagram, has never been shy about sharing her body at all stages of pregnancy and postpartum.

Emily recently shared a video showing her ‘bikini body’ over the past two years, from when she was pregnant with her second baby, her son Izaac, to now.

“There’s nothing ‘wrong’ with being confident in your own skin! There’s everything RIGHT about it,” Emily says in the comments.

“When I was pregnant and postpartum and was carrying a bit of extra ‘padding’, people used to celebrate the fact I was confident and comfortable enough in my own body to wear a bikini. Now that I’m fit again and have lost what I’d gained during pregnancy, people say things like, ‘Why do you have to wear a bikini?’, ‘Mums shouldn’t show their bodies like this’ or ‘You love yourself!”. DAMN STRAIGHT I LOVE MYSELF – it took me long enough to!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
“Doesn’t society tell us to love ourselves? But if we do we’re told we shouldn’t,” Emily continues.

⁣⁣
“I love my body in all shapes and sizes and at all stages of my pregnancy and postpartum journey. I’m so grateful for it! ⁣⁣ I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t happiest with the way I am now though. I feel like superwoman! I’m strong, fit, healthy and I LOVE how my body looks!  I work hard to be this way and it makes me happy.
⁣⁣
“If I could wish for anything for my daughter Mia & my son Izaac – it’s that they truly love themselves! I hope it doesn’t take as long as it took me! All I can do is lead by example though.

“By the way, EVERYBODY has a bikini worthy body no matter what shape or size you are and no matter how much cellulite, wrinkles or stretch marks you’ve got! Wear that damn bikini if ya want to!”

Amen Emily!

  • Well done to her. I wish to be able to do that.

  • we should never shame a female that is comfortable in their own skin.

  • I’ve never worn a bikini, never owned one. Such a shame that women have to be made to feel bad about their bodies in any shape or form. No wonder very few women are comfortable in their own skin

  • I wore bikinis up into my late 50s after having had 4 children – but I am one of the lucky people who didn’t have to work that hard to get my figure back. If I were still swimming I’d still wear a bikini as I feel happier in them than a one piece.

  • I don’t have problems wearing a bikini. But I’m very lucky that after having twins I don’t have any stretch marks. The only problems I have that all my bikini tops don’t fit me anymore after breastfeeding.

  • I don’t think someones size should matter worry about yourself

  • What a refreshingly real and empowered woman :)

  • I love how real Emily Skye is. She doesn’t try be something she isn’t nor set unrealistic expectations for women. She is just showing her journey

  • I’ve never worn a 2 piece let alone a bikini at any age. It’s good that she’s proud of her body which would have been a lot of hard work. Maybe the people being nasty are jealous that they aren’t like her.

  • I think that she is confident in her skin that is fabulous and she is showing both sides, the good and the bad so it is not like hey I had a baby and 2 weeks later I am a stick again. It is hard work and 11 months later here I am looking like this.

  • I haven’t been confident in a bikini since I was a teen. A one piece, no problem! Good on Emily for wearing what she wants. She’s real, raw and inspires others to be the same.

  • I’m not confident to wear a bikini as I’m still the largest I’ve been in my life, but I can appreciate many other people can. Being a mum shouldn’t stop you and it’s not like she only showed herself when slim and toned. She’s not promoting unreasonable expectations for all mother’s, just sharing her story. Which as someone who’s job is fitness, doesn’t apply to most people anyway

  • Im glad she’s not promoting something like this 2 months after giving birth haha she seems very realistic

  • Our bodies are amazing no matter what they look like.

  • If her body can handle it and her baby allows it there is no problem. Everyone’s pregnancy and birth experience is different. My second pregnancy was excruciating and caused permanent damage, she may have had an easy and smooth journey. I’d like it if I looked like that at any time post baby, but almost nine years in I’m not even close to pre pregnancy weight (was way underweight and I’ve had four babies in that time, plus neglected to exercise), but I’m OK with that
