Our thoughts are with the family of a four-year-old boy who sadly died from severe burns after a fire in their timber house on Queensland’s Darling Downs on Tuesday night.

The boy’s three-year-old brother, Jeremy, remains in a critical condition at Lady Cilento Hospital, reports Daily Mail.

A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed Blade, four, had passed away in hospital on Wednesday afternoon.

The boys’ father, 34, managed to drag his children outside as the blaze completely destroyed their timber house at Weranga around 7.30pm on Tuesday.

‘The two children suffered 89 to 90 per cent burns to their whole body and the father suffered burns to his arms,’ Queensland Fire and Emergency Rescue spokesman Cameron Ashmore said.

The father was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical condition, while his two boys were airlifted to the Lady Cilento.

The father’s condition is now stable with burns to his arms.

RIP little man. Our thoughts are with the family at this tragic time.

  • What a horrible tragedy!

  • It may take some time for the the Dad’s hands to heal and the skin loosen as it sometimes becomes very tight and restricts movement which can sometimes be helped with intensive physio. Hopefully the little boy makes a steady recovery.

  • Fires are a dreadful way to lose anyone.

  • Truly tragic. My sincere hope is that this family will be wrapped in the love of friends, family and community, not just now but also in the years into the future. Recovery will be far more than that of recovering burn injuries. May the young battler be in the hands of the best specialists for his needs and be given every possible chance to pull through.

  • This is just heartbreaking – RIP little one …. sending prayers to the family and so hoping Jeremy pulls through …

  • how traumatic and tragic for all involved. Hoping for a good recovery for Jeremy.

  • Aw bless, how terrible.
