Her video for the hit song ‘Wuthering Heights’ is an iconic piece of music history, and now Melbourne fans of Kate Bush are set to become Cathy for a day.
It has been a global sensation around the world, and now The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever is set to return next weekend to Melbourne’s Edinburgh Gardens. The event will see hundreds of die-hard fans don their red dresses and recreate the iconic video clip which gave Kate Bush international fame.
It’s Me, I’m Cathy
Fans of any age, gender or dance ability are encouraged to get involved as ‘Cathys’, with the only requirements being to dress up in red and learn the choreography. Those who would rather observe from the sideline will be designated ‘Heathcliffs’, and will look after the belongings of the ‘Cathys’, take photos and provide refreshments to keep them dancing throughout the day.
The event is about more than just reenacting an iconic moment in music history. While entry is free, there will be posters and afternoon for sale with all proceeds going to charities that support survivors of domestic violence. Event organisers have also set up a dedicated Facebook page with regular updates and information for those interested in getting involved.
There are also events planned for The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever in other locations around Australia, including Brisbane, Sydney and The Bega Valley. Keep your eyes peeled in your local area, dust off your red dress and get practicing!
