The excitement is fever pitched for Gilmore Girls fans worldwide, with Netflix announcing that they are making new episodes of the hit series set in the unique town of Stars Hollow.
Stars of the show, Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Alexis Bledel (Lorelai’s daughter, Rory), Scott Patterson (Luke) and Kelly Bishop (Emily, Lorelai’s mother) are to return to our screens for a final season that will be written and directed by the creators of the original series Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino.
Two other loved stars, Sean Gunn (Kirk) and Keiko Agena (Lane), are also confirmed to be returning to the show.
No information has been provided by Netflix about the expected premiere date, number of episodes or official title of the series. There was also no mention about a possible return of actress Melissa McCarthy, who has since starred in her own TV series, Mike & Molly.
Lauren spread the news of the return of Gilmore Girls around the world, when shared an excited image on Instagram. In the picture, Graham holds a jacket appears to have the words Property of Gilmore Girls Costume Department and captioned the image with, “I CAN NOW CONFIRM: It’s time for me, and this jacket I stole in 2007, to return to work.”
Scott Patterson, who plays the owner of Luke’s Diner also shared with Instagram he was excited to be back in Stars Hollow:
In October last year, it was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Netflix had reached agreement with Warner Bros. for a limited revival of the series – which was rumoured to be made up of four 90 minute episodes.
