I never knew the humble Vicks had so many uses! Check out these 8 alternative uses for Vicks!

  1. Cracked heels: Rub Vicks on your heels at bedtime, put socks on your feet and go to bed. Wash off in the morning and rub your skin with a pumice stone and your cracked heels will be gone.
  2. Infected toenails: Rub Vicks on your infected nail 2-3 times a day until healed.
  3. Ear aches: Help ease the pain of an ear ache by rubbing a small amount of Vicks on a cotton ball and placing cotton ball in sore ear at night.
  4. Headaches: To ease pain, rub some Vicks into your temples.
  5. Keep bugs away: Use Vicks as a insect repellent on your body, you only need a few small dabs.
  6. Itchy bites: Apply Vicks to your bites for relief.
  7. Coughing: Ease night time coughing by rubbing Vicks on feet and covering with socks before bed.
  8. Acne: Apply Vicks to pimples to help heal them.

  • I always use Vicks when anyone in my family has a cold. I place it on the chest, back and feet and its works really well. I also use it on pimples that I get when I’m approaching that time of month. Pimple is usually gone within the 2 days.

  • I find Vicks good for chesty coughs, running noses etc by putting 2 teaspoons of Vicks in a metal bowl half filled with boiling water in the bedroom at night of the person who has a stuffy nose/chest make sure its in a safe place close to the person, good idea to place it in the closed room before they go to bed to fill the room with the vapours. In the morning dispose of what’s in bowl correctly not down the toilet or any drain just throw out on the lawn or on the drive way

  • Have Vicks for different things through the years, great on my children and hubby. As for myself I can not stand it near my face or nose. One thing to be careful with it make sure your hands are well washed before going to the toilet as it can burn. Yes laugh can now , not then.

  • Put a tablespoon of Vicks into a large bowl of boiling water. Put a towel over your head and breath in the vapours. (Remember to come up for air). This will aid in clearing a congested nose. It really works.
