It’s that time of year again when we are thinking about packing away the Christmas tree for another year. If you have an artificial tree, the tree is probably dusty and could do with a clean before you pack it away.

There are a few different ways to clean your tree. Here are some tips:

1. You could gently vacuum the branches.

2. You could use a leaf blower to blow off the dust

3. You could hose down your tree (leaving it to dry before packing away)

I did a quick vacuum of mine before I packed it away and I think it will need another clean when I unpack it next year.

Do you clean your artificial Christmas tree? Please SHARE how you do it in the comments below.

  • Thanks for the tips. I will let my husband know!

  • What a very handy tip – great to do before you put it back in storage. Thanks for sharing

  • I blow any dust away with the hairdryer set on cool and, as mine has permanent Star decorations, I give them a wipe over with a very lightly damp cloth.

  • I haven’t cleaned my tree before although I store it in the ceiling so better to do it before I put it up

  • Our tree is still standing by lack of time to take it down…and when I take it down I’ll give it a little shake on the most and then straight in the box ;)

  • Wow, I did not know that tree washing was a thing! Something to consider for next Xmas

  • hadn’t actually ever thought to wash it as it is boxed well and doesn’t ever seem to be dirty. but will keep these ideas in mind for the future.

  • I’m going to try the leaf blower. Thanks for the tip.

  • never thought to wash it – will do that when we set up our big one this christmas as it will have been boxed for a couple of years

  • I never ever thought of this! Great tips, awesome

  • I have never cleaned it before but will definitely from now on. Thanks for the tips.

  • I have never thought of cleaning our tree, I will now give it a wipe before I put it away.

  • I actually never thought to clean the tree before packing away. Silly of me. Hose or leaf blower seems the best for us I think. Will make sure I start doing this now

  • I wipe mine down with a wet rag soaked in mild detergent, but we usually pack away the tree around mid- January.

  • Had a real tree but handy to know!
