Hello!

Most middle aisle special buys come and go and life continues to tick by. There are very very few Aldi specials that would convince me to line up – Caviar skincare and maybe ski gear if it comes back on sales this year.

I wrote a story about the fake thermomix that went on sale over the weekend. But I completely ignored that cute little Robot vacuum that topped the special buys a few days ago.

I just didn’t think I needed one. For one, we don’t have an inch of carpet in our apartment and we don’t have a dog. So I honestly didn’t think I needed a pet cleaner constantly getting under my feet.

It Should Have Been MINE!

But now I am suffering from the biggest Aldi FOMO (fear-of-missing-out, just in case you’ve seen this acronym a hundred times but never was brave enough to ask what it stands for!). Everytime I see yet another social post of a new ecovacs owner crowing about their new purchase, I am overcome with a massive dose of non-buyer’s regret.

The ECOVACS DEEBOT OZMO 920 was on the Aldi shelves in very limited quantities for a crazy price of $399 – that’s less than half its regular price.

Gone In A Minute

“I lined up at my local Aldi and managed to get one this morning. That whole thing was manic. They were all gone within two mins of the store opening!” said one frustrated shopper.

So What’s So Good About It?

This super-smart robotic cleaner can vacuum and mop – both carpets, tiles and hard floors. It has a strong battery, allowing 110 minutes of cleaning, offers powerful suction, slim design, and is (apparently) whisper quiet.

The Aldi fan groups have been filled with shoppers boasting how they love their new robotic maid. Many have included the ECOVACS as a new very welcome member of the family and given it a name. There are even posts with hundreds of comments after some new owners couldn’t come up with a suitable name for their auto vacuum.

Part Of The Family

“You need to name her to officially make her part of the family,” said one owner.

“Omg I’m in love it does such an amazing job!! worth every penny,” said one fan on an Aldi Facebook fan group.

“Outsourcing at its best! I am currently drinking a glass of wine watching Dee Dee Deebot do her thing!”

“I’m in love with mine too we are still trying to get to know each other but so far so good!”

Wah! I wanna do that too…it’s not fair!

Love The Names!

“I have named my Rhonda robot. She is honestly fantastic. And I’m super impressed with her mopping too!”

“If it’s a lady bot, you should call her ‘Meryl Sweep’. We’ve got one that we call Optimus Grime!”

“I called my one Rosie after the maid from the Jetsons.”

“My robot vacuum was named by my children. He’s Geoffrey like the butler from the fresh prince of bel air.”

“I bought one more than a year ago. Have named it ‘our favourite child’!”

So it looks like my FOMO is absolutely justified! Damn!

I’ll be there lining up next time the robo-vac comes on sale. But in the meanwhile, it’s back to my trusty dust pan and brush!

  • Really feeling bad about this now, didn’t know it was so good. It was available in the store nearby and my hubby did ask me if I want to have one. I am very fussy about cleaning the floor, didn’t know it did a great job. Will wait for the next time :(

  • Doubt that we will ever own one of these – it’s just one more thing to trip over was my MM’s comment.
Sorry you feel so bad about missing out on one, but to stand in line from some unearthly hour in the morning and fight with the crowds trying to get a special from Aldi is definitely not my idea of a good time. I’ll just use my vaccuum and be happy with what I’ve got.

  • I think a robovac would drive our dog crazy! It would be great to review one to see what it’s like though

  • I have a robovac but it doesn’t mop as well. Won’t be able to get one either as the closest store is 5 hours away.

  • I’ve been wanting a robot vacuum- would be perfect for around the kitchen/ dining area.

  • I’d love to get myself one of these robot vacuums.

  • I’ve been wanting one of these for ages but they’ve just been too exxy for us to afford.
My gf got one off ebay which she absolutely loves and it only cost her $150!
So you can definitely find one just as good for half the price elsewhere.

  • I would have LOVED to get one but we just couldn’t afford it at the time, it would make life so much easier I have to vacuum twice a day

  • I didn’t get one, not really a necessity at the moment…money better spent in a different area for us

  • You’ve convinced me I’ll need to line up next time they become available.

  • I always miss out on the Aldi special buys because I can’t get to the local store when they are on, so I’ve stopped looking now, lol!
