Irish mothers accused of scamming businesses across Brisbane have allegedly been caught stealing from a supermarket.

CCTV footage shows at least two women filling their bags at the city’s Chevron Island store before allegedly making off with 150 dollars’ worth of shopping.

When a staff member approaches, the blonde woman frantically unloads the goods from her handbag into her basket, revealing the items she allegedly planned to steal.

Shocking footage also shows one of the women allegedly swiping a stack of meat trays from the shop floor.

Queensland police told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Police are aware of the incident and are making follow up inquiries.’

Police are now investigating if the mothers are linked to an Irish fraudster who was recently arrested in Broadbeach but failed to show up at court, reported Seven News.

Several small business owners across Brisbane claim they have been scammed by the same women, who have been spotted around the city with two prams and at least four children.

Managers of several restaurants claim the women have been planting shards of glass in their meals before refusing to pay.

Queensland Police say they had received several reports of a group causing a ruckus in venues close to the CBD.

“We are aware and are following up inquiries. We are looking at other possible similar offences of that same nature.

“Any business owners with patrons refusing to leave the premise or if they have safety concerns should contact police immediately,” a spokesman said.

  • What a terrible way for their children to grow up – they will know no better.

  • If this is true, they need to be held accountable. If you want to live in our society, treat everyone as you would wish to be treated.

  • I am so sick of this type of behaviour that impacts the rest of us. Firstly, why are they so special and more important than those of us who have to pay? What right do they have? Secondly, prices are increased to cover security and lost/stolen items that hits our hip pocket. Obviously not theirs. HOW DARE THEY.

  • That is terrible. I’m glad they have caught them.

  • Read most of these people have left the country and the others have gone to ground hiding. Hopefully their pictures will be used to stop them from hurting others. What type of life do the children have from living like this?

  • Very sad for the children and the businesses. Hopefully it’s stopped sooner rather than later.

  • The future of these kids is at stake indeed ! Very sad when you think about that.
I’ve an 8 yr old girl in care under guardianship order. She was for the first 3 years of her life brought up by her parents who used and dealed drugs and stole from many people. She was neglected and hunted for food, going through garbage bins. Now she suffers a Reactive Attachment Disorder and steals and lies daily and it has become compulsive. I fear for her ending in the criminal circuit.

  • I see things like this all the time where I work in a supermarket and I honestly fee for the children. What sort of a future do they have if they are bought up thinking it’s ok to do these things? Glad they’ve been caught.

  • Are they giving businesses a bad reputation too, especially the places they eat at? Hopefully somebody will recognise the women in the photo and know where they live. One day a homeless person may find food with glass in it in a bin and eat it.

  • They sound like they have a lot of growing up to do still. Its a shame they’re this sort of influence on their children.
