Jools Oliver just welcomed her fifth baby and now faces ridicule from the trolls attacking her ‘post-baby body’.

Jools Oliver, wife of TV Chef Jamie Oliver, was mum shamed online after an Instagram post she shared about a new pair of pants.

“Finally ‘almost’ fitting into these gorgeous trousers so comfy post little baby and beyond, think we have finally found our perfect trousers,” the new mum shared in her Instagram post.

One follower snapped, “I am currently pregnant with my 2nd baby. And every minute of every day I’m scrutinising my weight. Pictures like this DO NOT HELP!”

The user added: “Shouldn’t you be more concerned with bonding with your child rather than how quickly you fit back into your jeans?”

But Jools saw the comment and hit back, “Honestly it’s about the trousers!!! I didn’t even think about the weight!!! For god sake I still have heaps to lose as I said earlier my tshirt hides a lot!! It was merely a shout out to the lovely girls who sent me the trousers nothing more I hardly EVER put pictures up of myself and certainly not a ‘selfie’ I am confident with my body before during and after pregnancy and totally get that things don’t go back to normal for at least 6 months to a year! If at all and after 5 babies I should know. The waist of the trousers is elasticated!!!!! So prob would have fitted when I was 9 months pregs!

As for bonding with my baby… I feel no need to address this it’s ridiculous. So please next time if I irritate you just unfollow me it was just meant to be a nice pic of a pair of good trews but has to turn in to a weight issue seems a bit weird to me and a totally shame !”

And Jools was also backed up by her mother in-law Sally Oliver who left a comment of support to the new mum.

“Jools – there are always chippy nutters on social media, so don’t forget, a quick ‘delete’ and ‘block’ is quicker than having to defend yourself (albeit very sweetly) against some troll looking for someone to blame for their own unsatisfactory existence.”

When one commenter praised Jamie’s mum for sticking up for her kin she said she felt “incensed” when she read some of the criticisms about her “lovely daughter-in-law”.

Sally added: “To infer that she is not bonding with her new baby is beyond arrogant. She is the most wonderful mother.”

  • More power to you Jools. It’s nice to be able to fit into something that you like wearing and not feel depressed about the extra weight you may have to shift. Congratulations to you on your baby and fitting into your pants. People shouldn’t have a go at you because of their own insecurities.

  • Gee, some people can get so uptight over nothing.

  • Jools looks fab and is proud to fit into the pants,no drama!

  • I can’t believe the things some people say. I agree, if you don’t like what you read about just unfollow the page and move on. Life is too short.

  • Seriously? Jools is just proud and excited to be able to fit back into a pair of pants. Let her enjoy the moment. I know I’m happy when I can do this, but I guess I don’t take a photo and share it. But really, she’s not lauding it over anyone. She’s just happy with herself. Let’s be happy for her too.

  • Such a shame that some people view the world with such negativity. These people are best blocked and ignored. Positive thought, actions and words are better for everyone.

  • Jools is right, the t-shirt can hide the body well and so can the pants; she is not showing flesh. I can understand the pregnant woman being frustrated by celebrities and their miraculous post-pregnancy bodies but this photo is the wrong one to attack.

  • Just another reason not to get into social media in the first place. Jools is a great mum and knows that after having 5 kids, nothing gets back into place quickly – and all who follow her should be very well aware of that.

  • I dont understand why we cant understand that we are all different. Some womans bodies look like they couldnt possibly have been pregnant at any stage. No stretch marks. no sagging skin and super flat tummy. Others …like me have marks and sagging skin that my Doc has said all the exercise in the world wont fix. Either way is totally acceptable. Please lets stop attacking each other.

  • What is wrong with people. We are all women and we should be helping one another not trying to tear each down. All women gain and lose weight differently we shouldn’t be bad mouthing someone just because they lose weight or put it on quickly.

  • There is a saying “if you don’t have something nice to say then say nothing” .

    • Right!

      • Sadly a lot of people to not subscribe to this philosophy, but it is a wise one for sure!

  • Jools is such a beautiful woman. You can tell she has a kind heart and would never be bragging

  • Absurd! Jools was still quite kind in her answer. And you could indeed see from the picture that the trousers were elasticated!!

  • What is up with people these days? Do they not have enough going on in their own lives? Or perhaps they have their own insecurities and need to put people down to make them feel better? Personally I think she looks fabulous. 5 children are obviously keeping her fit and healthy.
