Julianne Moore on family life –  “I want to be home when my kids are home. I want to have dinner with them.”

Academy Award-winning actress Julianne Moore covers the March issue of Marie Claire UK and opens up about family life with husband Bart Freundlich and their two kids: son Cal, 18, and daughter Liv, 13.

Julianne says she doesn’t like anything to impact on family time – “At night, I won’t answer work emails, or the phone, unless there is an emergency. If I have to read scripts, or have a meeting, or do an interview, I do it during the school day. I don’t think I’ve ever given an interview within the school hours, just because I want to be home when my kids are home. I want to have dinner with them.”

Sounds like she has given herself some strict guidelines to adhere to as a working mum. I could learn a thing or two from her. I imagine it to be super hard juggling family life and a demanding career.

  • I love what she said. It’s great that she wants to keep her family separated from her work, and that she does her best to spend time with her kids. Well done on Julianne!! :-)

  • Good on her. It’s hard to find balance between work and family life but she seems to have great policy in place.
