Road Rage- It happens to the best of us and brings out the worst in us.

I don’t know about you but something happens to me when I’m driving and I decided it was worthy of a song. What better song to change the lyrics to than Le Freak, because, well, basically I freak out when I’m dealing with bad drivers.

ROAD RAGE

Sung to the tune of Le Freak
Ahhh Road Rage

It’s hard to keep your cool

Road Rage

When everyone’s a fool

Nick off

Get back into your lane

Get stuffed

Are you completely insane

How am I, supposed to keep my cool

When clearly I’m the only one who knows road rules

I’m really nice, at home and with my friends

But in a car, my placid demeanour ends

Oh here we go, now the light’s turned red

Cos P Plates here, was squeezing zits instead

Check her out, this woman on my right

Her finger’s up her nose, it’s not a pleasant sight

That’s gross

You do realise I see you

That’s gross

Your windows are see through

Just look at that, fancy silver Porsche pushed in

Clearly road rules just don’t apply to him

What’s with that, so, his car cost more than mine

Bollocking arrogant twit, I hope he cops a fine

Let me tell you, about my big pet hate

You let a driver in, you smile, nod and wait

And they don’t wave back or acknowledge you at all

What the F**k, use your manners, that really isn’t cool

Wave back

It’s an unwritten rule

Wave back

You bloody ignorant tool

Scouting carparks is another time for stress

Sweaty palms, eyes peeled, looking for the best

There’s a spot with shade, just 2 steps from the store

This is insta worthy, you couldn’t want for more

You stop and indicate, you’re about to claim your park

Elation and excitement suddenly turns dark

Some selfish rude git, zips in and steals your spot

They glance your way and couldn’t give a toss

Back off

I was clearly parking there

Back off

I don’t care about your wheel chair

Road Rage

I’m turning into Frankenstein

Road Rage

Get me home I need a wine

Get far

Across, back in to your lane

You can’t

Do that, are you frikkin insane

Dip shit

I actually never used to swear

F**k off

I’m literally tearing out my hair

Up yours

Stop texting on your phone

Toss pot

Speeding in a school zone

Road Rage

Cars as far as the eye can see

Road Rage

Oh great, now I need to pee

Aaah road rage

It’s hard to keep your cool

Road rage

When everyone’s a fool

  • Haha, pretty funny. I might try singing next time.

  • Very true. Best is to stay calm and not wind yourself up about how people drive, be generous and humble in letting people go ahead in your lane and you might even receive gratitude and joy instead of rage.

  • Some of the stupid things you see it’s no wonder there isn’t a lot more accidents than there is and more cause for road rage (no excuse but understandable) e.g I heard on radio about a truck driver that had a car sped up behind him, then sat right st his bumper, then turned his car lights off so the truck driver dabbed his brake pedal and the car slowed down a bit. Next thing he knew the car was driven on the other side of the highway going the wrong way. This is was on a highway where there is a wide plantation in the middle of the road between the 2 sides of it. It is surprising how many cars pass trucks and change lane as soon as the pass the truck bumper bar. I don’t know how the truck managed to stop and not hit him. How can the truck immediately be the correct distance behind the car? I also personally know a truck driver who had a passenger with him one day (fortunately not me that day). The car driver kept kept easing towards him and the small truck was already moving into he left lane after having done right turn onto the highway. Te truck moved over right into the gutter and the car still side swiped him and damaged the car exterior mirror, shook his fist at the truck driver but didn’t stop. The car driver reported it to the Police. The truck driver did his delivery nearly then went straight to the Police Station and reported it, including the fact that the car left the scene without stopping at all, even though he stopped…..then decided to do delivery because he did see where the car went after going down one street and then wasn’t visible. The car driver walked out as the truck driver was getting out of the truck but the truck driver didn’t speak to the guy because he didn’t know if it was the right one or not. The Police Officer asked the truck driver if he stopped because the car driver made differing comments for the statement. The truck driver made the report as a hit- run + he didn’t know how much damage the car actually had and didn’t want to be held responsible especially as the truck was stationery when hit by the car. The car driver also said the truck had dents from hitting the car mirror. The truck had a couple of surface scratches – not even through the paint and no dents.
Many years ago a truck driver we know deliberately ran off the road when a Valiant Station wagon past him on the wrong side of a narrow bending road. Basically she returned to the correct side of the road so close in front of him that if he hadn’t gone of the road she would have hit is bumper….and he would have been in the wrong because he would have hit the back of her. What was even worse the kids didn’t have their seat belts on. They were playing in the very back of the wagon close to the window. Lucky he did what he did as there was a car came around the corner from the other way within a few seconds so there would have been 3 vehicles involved The truck driver managed to get his truck back on the road but had to get it repaired at the next town. He had to wait 3 days for parts because of being in a country area

  • Yes, some people really lose it on the road.

  • Love it! Every word is so true! I am a placid person, but on the road there are so many idiots around it’s hard not to drop a few F bombs sometimes lol

  • I can definitely relate. And I’m a pretty relaxed driver.

  • That’s a great poem, so true !

    • A creative poem – road rage is way to real at this time of the year.

  • Sadly this is the time of year when road rage seems to be multiplied.

    • Yes I agree. People are stressed and cranky from being tired etc that it seems they have an even shorter fuse on the roads
