An act of indecency in front of a 6-year-old boy in a public bathroom has seen a 19-year-old man charged with allegedly committing the act.

Police say the boy ran off to his family immediately after the incident, which occurred in the bathroom of a shopping centre in South Penrith in Sydney’s west on Thursday afternoon.

Arrested on Friday, the man was charged with committing an act of indecency with a victim under the age of 10 years.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

  • An act of indecency?? I’m assuming he was perhaps masturbating?? Goes to show that you can’t leave children to go to public rest rooms alone – you never know what might be happening although waiting right outside the door

  • Oh god, stories like this honestly make me want to throw up! What is wrong with people?! To want to do things like this to our kids!? Urgh, gross

  • no i really don’t think that this is right! maybe kids need their own seperate bathrooms away from the adults.

  • What a sicko! I won’t be letting my daughter go to a public toilet on her own for a LONG LONG LONG time!!

  • These monsters need to be locked away. Seriously I can’t believe some people abd the depths of their deprivations.

  • It has become a risk letting your child go to the toilet alone. My brother used to hate having to take his girls to places where they may need go to the toilet. That is were “family” rooms a good idea as they have a toilet cubicle in one corner of them. I know some Mums take their young sons into the ladies toilet with them for that very reason. I am not sure at what age they are no longer allowed to do that.

  • Letting your kids go to the toilet has become quite terrifying.

    • Indeed, it can be quite scary at times for parents.

  • This is happening all too often yet at our local swimming pool, there is still a sign saying that boys aged 6 and over need to be using the male toilets. Well sorry, if my Husband is not there with me, my 6 year old son will be coming into the female toilets with me.

  • That is disgraceful.that poor poor child. I’m glad the sicko hasn’t been released on bail

  • I wish there were still attendants at toilets as they looked after the cleanliness of the toilets and were safe and secure for children.

  • If I had a young son I’d probably take him into the ladies toilets or disabled toilets with me rather than sending him in to the men’s toilets alone. It’s sad that these sorts of incidents make it difficult to be relaxed as a parent when it comes to something as simple as going to the toilet.
