A man has been charged with the attempted murder and sexual assault of a nine-year-old girl.
The charges relate to an alleged sexual assault that occurred on Monday in Acacia Ridge, Brisbane. Police have confirmed the man and the girl are known to each other, reports 9 news.
Investigators believe the 43-year-old, New Farm man, caught a taxi from Acacia Ridge at about 3am and allegedly pulled a knife on the driver when he could not find someone to pay his fair when they arrived in Strathpine.
He has been charged with attempted murder, four offences in relation to sexual assault, and one count each of indecent treatment of a child, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm.
The man has additionally been charged with armed robbery and stealing following investigations into the alleged armed robbery of a taxi driver in Strathpine on Monday, December 12.
He is due to appear in court today.
