SYDNEY – A 92-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl earlier this year.
Police believe that the incident took place on the 19th of January at a home on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The man was arrested in Manly yesterday afternoon and charged over the assault last month.
Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad launched an investigation after the assault was reported, and took the men to Manly police station, where he was questioned and charged.
Police said the man was charged with one count of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10, and one count of assault with an act of indecency.
He appeared in Manly Local Court yesterday and was granted strict conditional bail, before his next scheduled appearance at the Downing Centre Local Court on March 30.
The man is related to the girl he is accused of abusing, and cannot be named for legal reasons.
