Hello!

Meet the lady who with 27 years under her belt, is the Children’s Hospital Foundation’s longest serving volunteer!

For almost three decades, Lisa, has selflessly donated her time to make things a little easier for sick Queensland kids and their families at the former Royal Children’s Hospital and now the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

Over the years, Lisa has spent her shifts playing with and entertaining hundreds of kids both in the playrooms and at their bedsides.

Now, she holds a much-coveted role as a Cuddle Carer, comforting young patients while their parents take a much-needed break.

“I really love helping out the children and their families. It’s always a pleasure to come in every week to volunteer. I’ve had a lot of amazing experiences over the years – I used to work with liver transplant kids – they were pretty special.”

  • I think Cuddle Carer is a great initiative. There is little ones whose parents who are unable to visit as often as they would like to and a few who just don’t bother
Some little ones come from country areas, their parents have other young children, live in country areas and have nobody else to care for their other children. Some have to stay in hospital for longer than would otherwise necessary before there isn’t more treatment that is needed in their country area.
