NEIGHBOURS describe hearing screaming and crying from the house where a mother and her preschool aged daughter were found dead yesterday.

The woman’s husband, arrived at their Pascoe Vale home in Melbourne’s north yesterday afternoon and found the bodies, reports Herald Sun.

The 39-year-old female and three-year-old girl were located shortly after 5.30pm.

Neighbour, Mohammed Assaad, said he ran outside to comfort the husband.

“He came home, he walked inside and then came out and just started screaming,” Mr Assad said

“He was just screaming and crying, couldn’t really understand what he was saying.”

Mr Assaad said the scene was “really distressing”.

“I ran outside, I sent my two neighbours inside,” he said.

“I gave him (the husband) a seat and offered him some water.”

Mr Assaad said the family were quiet and the whole street was shocked at the terrible events of yesterday.

“You just wouldn’t expect something like this from that household, they were a friendly family,” he said.

Police are still investigating the case.

  • RIP to the mother and child. Do hope some closure can be found for the father.

  • A very tragic story to read.R.I.P mother and child.

  • Did the neighbours hear the Mother and daughter screaming and crying or just the Dad?? Yes, if it was the Mother and daughter the neighbours should have called the Police and let them investigate. It is a little unclear to me.

  • This is so incredibly sad. I too hope they get answers soon.

  • Such tragic news. I hope they find out what happened quickly so the family can have some closure

  • How awful !! Hope they get clear what happened soon.

  • It is hard to know when to investigate crying and screaming, where to you draw the line in interfering in other people’s lives. Sad but true that most people would not investigate.

  • Poor mother and child. And the husband entering the house to find such a tragic scene. :-(
Indeed weird that nobody checked out what was happening after they heard the screams!
I hope the Police will find who did it.

  • how heartbreaking for the husband/father to come home to that scene – totally devastating.

I am ashamed though that with all the media reporting on domestic violence etc that the neighbours first instinct when hearing the screaming wasn’t to call the police – that seems very unusual.

I do hope the police get a break in the case and can convict the person/s who did this horrible thing

May she and her child rest in peace

  • What I also found distressing was the neighbours heard the mother and child screaming but didn’t go and check or call police. Why?
