A mother has made a heartbreaking plea for the truth after her 15-year-old son died on a dark, lonely stretch of road in country NSW.

Braydon Worldon died on Tuesday night and his body was found by a passing car on River Road, Wantabadgery, about 40km east of Wagga Wagga, about 1.30am Wednesday morning, reports 7 news.

It is believed the teen died in a suspected hit-and-run and his mother Crystal is calling for anybody with information to come forward.

“I lost my lil man 2 some coward who didn’t even bother to stop and help in anyway (sic),” she wrote on Facebook.

“Please if you have any sort of info please call.”

On Tuesday the teen’s family celebrated his 15th birthday.

Braydon’s uncle Damian told 7News on Wednesday “everyone loved him”.

“He was a good kid.”

The boy’s grandmother lives near where the boy was found and his devastated family is trying to figure out why he was on the road in the middle of the night.

They believe he may have been on his way to see his Nan.

“I want to know the truth,” his tearful mother told 7News.

Crash investigators are appealing for any drivers who travelled through Wantabadgery between 7pm Tuesday and 1am Wednesday to come forward.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page.

  • If you are taken out a reasonable distance by others in an isolated area you need to wait for somebody to take you home, hopefully safely.

  • Poor family. I didn’t know this case yet. If it really was a hit-and-run, it’s even more terrible. :-(

  • No kid should be out on the road at that time. Poor little man. Rip,

  • How tragic. Somehow it being his birthday makes it that little bit sadder. My heart goes out to them.

  • This is just heartbreaking for the family of this young boy. They would have so many questions they would want answered, but probably never will. RIP to the young boy, and thoughts and prayers with his family
