Mum of three, Carladanny Shone, shared her recent worst nightmare on Facebook to warn other parents.

She wrote, “I have just had to get this out of my daughters throat!!! I’m a trained nurse and have never been so so frightened in all my life!

“I could have had my life shattered in seconds!

“Please be vigilant when giving lollipops children… I still can not breath properly typing this!! Never ever will I let one in my house again!!

“You can see she wasn’t even biting on it, as we always tell her not too!! She sucked it right off the stick straight to back of throats, her lips were blue in seconds!

We recently shared another warning from a mum whose daughter nearly choked to death when a lollipop became lodged in her throat, she is calling for the sweets to be banned from shelves. Read more here.

  • No Lollipops here, never bought them, never will.

  • Oh dear, that is indeed very frightening.

  • Ok no lollipops for my little one, this is a good warning.

  • Most lollies are a choking hazard for their size

  • I don’t like lollypops for that reason.

  • Luckily she knew what to do otherwise it could have ended differently. There are a lot of things out there that we don’t know the dangers of until it’s too late

  • I often see children run with these darn things sticking out of their mouths …it frightens me and gives me the horrors..if they fell the lolly pop could be shoved down their throat.

  • If she didn’t have experience in the field it could have been alot worse!

  • Wow, I’m not a huge fan of lollipops for kids. I don’t know what age becomes suitable, but perhaps later school aged when they can handle them a little better.

  • “If” my kids ever had/have a lollipop they have to eat it sitting on the couch with me next to them. Have heard to many horror stories about kids choking of they run around and the whole lollypop stick and all gets stuck in their throat because they fell with it in their mouth.

  • I don’t understand why people would feed lollipops to their kids at all.

  • Never gave lollipops to my children until the were at school at the school fete’s.

  • My kids and I are not fans of lollipops I never buy them

  • Thankfully we have never had this scary experience with lollypops.

  • Yet another scary story of children with lollipops
    Glad this mother could help
