A 41-year-old woman has been charged with one count of murder after death of young boy.

The charges come following the death of an eight-year-old boy on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.

Homicide Squad detectives charged the woman following the child’s death at a house in Tootgarook on March 8, reports 7 news.

“Police attended an Alma Street address and located the eight-year-old boy’s body shortly after 1.30pm,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“A 41-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count of murder.”

She appeared at an out of sessions court hearing on Thursday night.

The woman has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday morning.

  • One can only guess the reason for this as there is no details at all. I noticed the woman has been detained though.

  • It looks like she was the mother of the boy and was being treated for depression. Poor kid. :-(
