Hello!

From childhood favourites to delicious twists on traditional treats, these are the latest supermarket finds everyone is lusting over.

Ok, months of lockdown, you got us good. No longer do our hearts flutter at the thought of a new outfit. Nope, it’s a trip to Woolies, Coles or ALDI that sends our pulses racing. And there’s a sweet little bunch of fresh supermarket drops that are making Aussies gaga.

1. Slush Puppie Pouches

Woolworths Slush Puppies

Oh, hey there Woolies, just casually dropping mouth-watering new products that pretty much leap into our trolleys.

First cab off the rank is Slush Puppie pouches ($3). I repeat – there are now Slush Puppies available in little pouch form. These bring back memories of childhoods spent scrounging up enough coin to grab a Slush Puppie from the corner shop on the way home.

The iconic ’80s icy treats have been reimagined in a convenient, freeze-at-home pouch, in grape, strawberry or blue raspberry flavour. We’ve just found our new summer obsession.

2. Chatime Bubble Tea Kits

While other bubble tea kits have been slowly making their way onto supermarket shelves – this is the one we’ve been waiting for. Cult bubble tea store Chatime has finally released their own bubble tea kits, and they’ve been worth the wait.

The Chatime Bubble Tea Kits ($10) are only available from Woolworths and come in original, oolong, mango and peach flavours – and according to my kids who’ve tried the peach kit, they are the bomb.

3. delicious Baking Kits

Shut up and take my money, Woolies. Iconic magazine delicious has launched its very first baking range ($6.50), which should be popping up in Woolworths stores this week.

It includes an Upside-Down Golden Syrup Banana Cake, Cookies & Cream Cake, Salted Choc-Chip Cookie Pie and Double Choc Mousse Cake. Sigh.

4. Coles Mini Vienna Sticks

Coles Mini Vienna Sticks

As kids, when mum brought out the Viennetta for dessert, we felt like kings. Those creamy folds of vanilla ice cream and crackling layers of chocolate were a complete vibe. So we know Coles is onto an absolute winner releasing a Viennetta dupe. On a stick, no less.

The Mini Vienna Sticks ($5) are apparently identical to the larger version, but we’ve haven’t been able to try them yet – they’re flying off the shelves!

5. ALDI Mushroom & Truffle Potato Gratin

ALDI-Mushroom-and-Truffle-Potato-Gratin

Ooh la la, haven’t we gone fancy ALDI? The Mushroom & Truffle Flavoured Potato Gratin ($4.99) packs are always snapped up every time the hit ALDI shelves. They’re only ever around for a short time, but they get plenty of love from fans.

Just pop them in the airfryer for a quick and delish side dish.

  • I haven’t seen any of these but the Aldi ones are intriguing. I am not an Aldi shopper fan, but I just might nip in and see if these are in my local shop. Thanks for the tip.

  • Oh my goodness!!! I literally only just saw the slush puppie pouches last week at the supermarket!! The memories of getting them at the tuckshop at school! They were just sooooo gooooood!!!! I’m currently on a diet though so I couldn’t get one =(

  • The Chatime only makes a very small amount. Can’t get the slush puppies anywhere!

  • I haven’t tried the Chatime bubble tea kit yet, but I did try another brand and it was pretty disappointing. I’ll need to find the courage to give the Chatime kit a try. The baking kits also look really good. Will have to take a closer look next time I’m at the shops.

  • Unfortunately I’ll have to wait until I can get into Woolworths (which is once a month when I do my big shop). Sometimes it’s a pain living 2 hours away from a shop. First thing I’ll be buying is the peach iced tea bubble kit.

  • Cannot wait to try the bubble tea, popped into my local woolies today, but they don’t them as yet. They sound delicious.

  • I heard about the slush puppies within the last two weeks (probably here) and searched for them with no luck. When I find them, I might just buy the whole shelf

  • Ooh, I’m all in for those Vienetta icecreams. Can’t wait to try it. I’ve never tried the Bubble Tea, so maybe this is an opportunity to do it.

    • Some delicious new products coming out! Sign me up for a Vienetta on a stick. That sounds delicious.
