A newborn baby has been found abandoned at an airport with a heartbreaking note attached.

The baby boy was found abandoned on a change table in a bathroom at Tucson International Airport on January 14, Fox News reports.

Finding the baby’s mother has been an ongoing investigation.

“Please help me,” the note reads.

“My mum had no idea she was pregnant. She is unable and unfit to take care of me. Please get me to the authorities so they can find a good home.

“I just want what is best for him and it is not me.

“Please.

I’m sorry.”

Tucson Airport Authority Police has recently released video of a woman believed to be the mother along with a photo of a note found with the child.

Police have described her as being in her mid 20s and about 170cm tall.

We hope mum is OK and seeks some help.

  • So very sad for all involved. Sad that mum felt she had no other choice then to abandon her baby. Sad for the baby who may never know his mum. People would have to realise how to safely give up a child? Abandoning a baby leaves them vulnerable to all sorts of dangers

  • How sad for her and her baby. But is it OK to post her photo everywhere? She obviously needs some help and I’m sure splashing her face around the internet won’t do that?

  • Hope everything will end up being ok for mum and bub.

  • What a sad story. There is always another answer…

  • This is a sad story. However, the mother of this child did all the right things, as she saw it, for her baby. She left her baby with a note in a busy place where she would be found. How hard that must have been for her? What she will live with and how she will deal with this moving forward is sad, concerning… The baby will be well looked after. I wish that for her Mum too.

  • That’s just sad all around. Arizona is one of the states that has the safe law where babies can be left at different places like a hospital with no questions asked if the mother doesn’t want to give out any information, this safe haven law applies until the baby is three days old. We don’t know why she didn’t choose the hospital or some of the other options to leave her baby and the article only says newborn which could mean just that or more than three days old? I feel for her and her baby and hope she’s ok.

  • I have no knowledge of the Tuscon Airport so I don’t know which country this happened in. Some places apart from a hospital there is nowhere else safe to anbandon a baby, especially if you don’t know the area. At least she left the baby in a “safe” place – not in a toilet cubicle at all, and the baby is not big enough to fall off the change area – not on a floor or bin somewhere. We don’t know her family circumstances. I hope she seeks medical attention if she needs it. It is tragic that she thinks her only good option is to abandon her baby. Hopefully a loving home will be found for him if the Mum doesn’t claim him or definitely is unable to care for him.

  • Such a sorry state of affairs for the mother to be in – seems she doesn’t want to be found though. Do hope a good final outcome will happen for the baby.

  • I feel for the mother and hope she is ok but she made it clear she wasn’t ready to be a mother. She did what she thought best for her child (admittedly a hospital would be a better place to leave him but circumstances are vague) I hope they find her IF she changes her mind but i also hope they leave her be if she stands by her decision. I also hope the baby will receive the best of care, which is what the mother seemed hopeful for too

  • A Sad start for this babies life.
Also sad that mum couldn’t seek help in a more open way.

  • And why leave the child in a bathroom? Wasn’t there any other place? She will be surely charged if they find her. Sad indeed that she couldn’t trust anyone in this tragic journey! :-(
I hope her baby is taken care of.
