Hello!

Disaster! Woolworths has announced that it will end its Disney Ooshies promotion this week – effectively four weeks before its official conclusion!

I’ve got a bag full of duplicates but still three empty spots in our collection case. But I wasn’t stressed. I still had until 20 October to finish our collection. Well, at least I thought I did!

BUT the unexpected has happened! Woolies spoke to 7NEWS earlier today, saying that due to “extraordinary demand”, the Disney Ooshies stock is predicted to run out throughout the country by the end of the week.

No More Disney Ooshies

The retailer has confirmed that Ooshies will no longer be supplied on online orders as from later today.

The exception is Victoria – where the collection only started a few days ago, due to lockdown restrictions. Woolworths had kept a special supply aside specifically for shoppers in Victoria so Disney Ooshies will still be available to Melbourne and surrounding areas…that is, until stocks last.

The Disney Ooshies Hack Sucked The Supply

I’m not exactly surprised. There have been rumblings from disgruntled shoppers for the past few days with many saying that their local stores had run out of Ooshies stock. Given that we used our hack to pick up 19 Disney Ooshies for only $30, I reckon lots of other shopper did the same thing. And Woolies didn’t know what hit them. The sponsored brands are probably pretty happy though (we’ve bought more Sorbent and Danone products than we’ve ever had!). But there was no way there would be enough stock with all the bonus Ooshies getting dished out.

Popularity Exceeded Expectations

“We’re thrilled to see how many customers have enjoyed collecting the Disney+ Ooshies since its launch,” said Woolworths’ Chief Marketing Officer, Andrew Hicks.

“It’s apparent customers of all ages have loved collecting these Disney+ Ooshies and their popularity completely exceeded our expectations.”

Mr Hicks went on to say that the “last of our stock to be collected by the end of this weekend.”

It’s Still On In Victoria

“I want to reassure our Victorian customers these lower stock levels do not apply to them,” Mr Hicks added.

“We created a separate allotment from when we delayed the launch of the program due to Stage 4 lockdowns and they can continue collecting in the weeks ahead while supplies last.

“We’d like to thank our team for their support in executing the program in stores and online and our customers for helping us create such a memorable program.”

Aw, it’s certainly been one of our favourite collections. Now we’ll just have to hit the swap facebook groups and see if we can finish our collection.

  • It was a while stocks lasted thing. It would be annoying, but in the scheme of things, theres bigger issues in the world!

  • They seem to have pulled all the accessories too. I forgot to buy a collector case and now I’m in trouble with my kids!

  • No, we have not finished our set and probably will not be able too. There will be no tears about it either! In the scheme of things it is a non issue!

  • I think where Woolies went wrong with this collection was allowing you to get more if you bought certain items.

  • There is a lot of publicity about this at the moment, and I don’t actually think that its great news. So what, they ran out, they knew they were going to run out at some point. How is that news?

    • Exactly, what’s the big deal ?!

  • I finished my collection and I have a lot of spares if anyone needs any.

  • They have done it before and they will do it again. People are selling or swawing them on gumtree and marketplace so people dont need to stress about it. I dont think it’s a bad thing they do it. It gives kids something to look forward to when grocery shopping and its bringing more money into the company.
