Parents disgusted at online retailer over a dress designed for girls as young as three that bears the words ‘I’m sexy and I know it’.

The $12 garment, sold by Australian online retailer Ozsale, is available in four sizes ranging from size  3-4 to size 8-9.

While the dress is advertised as “beautifully designed” and “durable and stylish”, parents have taken issue with the message it sends to young girls.

A photo of the dress shared on the Let Clothes Be Clothes Facebook page attracted dozens of comments:

“Can’t believe things like this get approved. Disgusting.”

“Who on earth thinks that’s an appropriate slogan for a child’s clothing?”

“This is unbelievably creepy.”

“Who the hell’s gates thought this was a good idea? I’d never buy anything like this for my niece.”

What do you think of this dress? Should these kind of slogans be banned from kids clothing?

  • Is it necessary on clothing at all?? In my personal opinion definitely not. In the privacy of your own home on nightwear is the only thing that should have “sexy” displayed on it. It’s certainly not suitable for anybody under 18 y.o. in public. There is other words that aren’t appropriate for youngsters too that have the same or similar meaning.

  • I’d never buy it, or let my daughter wear something like it.

  • I’m absolutely bewildered that this dress even made it on to an online shop – totally inappropriate and should never have been made let alone put up for sale!

  • Wow, I did not think I’d come across that written on a little girls dress. It should of been Cutesy that would of been okay.

  • Don’t like it at all, the word SEXY should NOT be used on any childrens garments full stop.

  • The word ‘sexy’ should not be associated at all, fullstop, period with anything to do with little girls especially not a slogan for them to wear! Little girls are ‘pretty’ not ‘sexy’. This kind of thing sends all the wrong messages to all the wrong people.

  • Eww. What sort of parent even buys that?

  • This is totally inappropriate. The best course of action is for parents to boycott these types of products.

  • Just don’t buy it !
I certainly don’t like clothing with this type of message, not for my young children, not for my teenager, not for myself.
I remember when my son was just born and I showed him off in the supermarket I always went to, that one of the ladies at the cash registers called him a wee sexy boy and I was so offended. Sexy ? My baby boy ??!!

    • What a horrible remark to make to a child!!

  • Wow it’s a beautiful dress ruined by 1 word, sexy is not a word to describe children, it’s very sad to think this is the word our kids live in, I would never buy anything like this for my daughter.
