Parents were left disgusted after finding 20 soiled nappies dumped in a children’s water play area.
The dirty nappies were found overnight in the kids area at Rocks Riverside Park at Seventeen Mile Rocks, south-west of Brisbane.
Brisbane City Council was forced to close the popular water park after alerting locals on Sunday.
‘I am outraged at the selfishness of vandals who over the weekend dumped dirty nappies in the kids aqua park at Rocks Riverside Park,’ councillor Matt Bourke of the Jamboree ward told The Courier Mail.
The council’s park crew worked through the weekend to remove the dumped nappies in the swimming areas.
The council workers had to drain the dirty pool to be filled up with clean swimming water.
‘This is one of the most popular parks in Brisbane and a favourite on weekends for babies and toddlers to enjoy safely, so it is disgraceful that people have deliberately rubbished it,’ councillor Bourke said.
The park has since been reopened.
