A SIX-year-old boy has died after he was found unconscious in a backyard pool.

The child was found floating in a pool in the backyard of a house in Sydney’s south-west.

In a critical condition, the boy was rushed by ambulance to Westmead’s Children’s Hospital under a police escort.

Sadly, police released a statement confirming the boy had died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

A crime scene has been established at the Spitfire Drive home as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Our thoughts are with all involved.

  • From the aerial photo I can’t tell if the pool is fenced or not. From some fences I have seen with upright bars some children could use their toes to grip around the bars to climb up. Sad loss of life for family and friends to grieve from. He possibly inhaled a lot of water which would have filled his lungs.
