Poor Hamish Blake admits he can’t go near his new baby Rudy

Last week Hamish and Zoe Foster Blake welcomed their baby girl Rudy Hazel Blake. Poor Hamish has not been allowed near little Rudy though.

The 35-year-old comedian and radio presenter admitted he’s been forced to admire his daughter from a distance due to a pesky virus making it’s way around the Blake household.

“Sonny, the weekend before last, when Zoe went into labour, got a terrible virus and I said to Zoe I would keep him away from her and run interference… I then got the virus,” Hamish told Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little on their HIT radio show.

“Since Rudy’s been born… She’s lovely, and I enjoy looking at her from a distance or behind a surgical mask, but you’re right now talking to a guy with a virus, I have got pink eye and a lot of stuff going on.”

“I have to go through the full ebola washdown before I can get near my child,” he joked.

“Everyone’s saying ‘Enjoy the baby bubble, enjoy the baby bubble’ — I’m in a Hazmat bubble!”

Admitting another patron into the nightclub my wife and I run (I’m security, she’s the DJ). We have a fairly strict door policy as you have to be a child of the DJ and/or bouncer, so it’s always great to get someone new through the door. The photo copy I took of her license says her name is Rudy Hazel Blake and I’m just about to tell her it’s a $12 cover charge. Nah, just messing with you Rudy, babies drink for free and you’re cute as hell. Free entry.

yep that is a great move on his behalf, that’s for sure. if only everyone would be as cautious as he is. congrats on the new bubba! very adorable little bubba!

You have to be so careful with a new baby. They can succumb to a virus within hours. Friends of ours had a premature baby who was in the Neonatal ward initially, then moved to the general nursery. A visitor had been into the nursery with a virus which spread through the nursery despite strict cleaning. As soon as the nursing staff realised the baby had caught the virus they contacted the parents who rushed to the hospital earler than they normally went in every day. Their little baby they should have been taking home the following week, passed away within 18 hours.

This is actually really responsbile of them. I think people forget that babies can get seriously ill from little stuff that affects us.

That must be so hard for him I hope he’s better soon so he can enjoy time with his new baby girl xx good to see him following all the right precautions though to keep her safe

Better staying away from Rudy than giving her whatever lurgy it is. Hamish’s turn will come soon enough. But baby is cute.

I was strict when our daughter was born, but luckily all were healthy.

What a gorgeous bub. And poor Hamish and Sonny. That’s so sad that they couldn’t get close enough until now. Great thinking though and having everyone’s best interests at heart.

Wise man keeping away, my premmie twins nearly lost their lives due to a bad virus, they also got ‘pink eye’ with it, were in hospital for 2 weeks. Good on you Hamish

Hope you all recover soon and embrace your little one.
I had to wait for a week before I could hold my daughter so know the feeling a bit…. So hard !

oh no that’s not what you want when you have a new born – poor family – hope everyone is one the mend and no one else gets the virus – what a different name – I keep going to say Rudy (as in Ruby) but I am not sure how they are saying it?

Hopefully the virus will clear up soon so he can cuddle and kiss Rudy.
