If the fare still works out cheaper then the other airlines then its still a bargain. if not then you switch airlines.

This is just ludicrous. They are not even using up a seat for goodness sake.

I’ve heard this before – it is so wrong! They are not taking up an extra seat, in fact I’ve done this before with my kids as babies and it actually makes things extremely uncomfortable for the mother having them on her lap and now they are wanting to charge extra for the ‘privilege’.

Oh please, every other airline charges a % of the ticket price, much more then $30 or $50. Stop complaining

If you can take the child’s things without paying extra or having to add to your luggage. So this means the carry ons for children does not count as your’s.

This is just gouging. They charge for EVERYTHING.

I think it’s reasonable, maybe call it something else though. We are expected to pay extra to have checked luggage, so why not a fee considering you’re probably checking in multiple large and potentially heavy items (pram, baby seat/carrier, portable cot). Once they’re over 2 we are charged for their seat but also luggage, so yes I think it’s fair

you get an extra belt to loop through your own. maybe the child should have their own space as well, especially if you are paying for it

I recently flew on the same plane as a family with a baby. The stewardess spoke to the Mum and they alterred the harness to harness the baby against the Mother. I don’t know how it was fitted but the stewardess came up the aisle with an extra piece of seat harness strap.

Yeah, I think it’s reasonable. It’s of course nice when a child/baby goes for free, but it’s still a person which at some circumstances may attention of the staff.
