Pregnant 16-year-old girl allegedly kicked in the stomach during a violent home invasion in Sydney’s south.
Police said they were called to home on Waratah Street in Cronulla about 2.30am, after reports a group of people had forced their way into the address and assaulted people inside.
A 37-year-old man was allegedly hit in the head with a hammer during the alleged attack.
“Three occupants within that unit have been assaulted by these persons and some property has been taken from there,” Inspector Gary Ford from Miranda LAC said.
“One of the male occupants has suffered a number of head injuries as a result of being struck by a mallet around the head, and he’s been conveyed to St George Hospital for treatment.” The pregnant girl was taken to Sutherland Hospital for treatment.
Police believe the girl is a friend of the nephew of the 37-year-old man who was assaulted at the home, however the other alleged victims are unrelated, ABC reports.
A short time later, police arrested seven people – six at Gymea and one at Woolooware.
Police said a crime scene has been established and they are continuing to investigate the incident.
