Thanks to Riot Art & Craft we have a fantastic DIY Fanned Pumpkin Bunting tutorial you can do with your kids just in time for Halloween!

You will need:

  • PVA Glue
  • Orange Acrylic Paint
  • Black Acrylic Paint
  • Pencil
  • Brush Set
  • Kids Paint Pot
  • Silver Metallic Craft Cord
  • Hole Punch
  • A4 Black Foam Board
  • Scissors

Step 1. Make your orange fans.

Turn your orange paper to landscape, and cut vertical strips 10cm in width. Do a continuous fold along the length of each piece, approximately 1.5cm in width. You will need 2 strips per fan.

Step 2.  Construct orange fan into circular shape.

Join two strips with glue at both ends, so it forms a loop.  Cut a circle from your leftover card 10cm wide.  Flatten your fanned strip down, and it will naturally form a fanned circle, push the edges inwards until you are happy with the shape, and glue down to the circle.  Turn over.

Step 3. Cut black card into circles.

Draw a circle that’s 10cm in diameter from your black card.  Cut around the circle using the inchworm scissors and glue to the middle of the fanned circle.

Step 4. Cut out pumpkin shape.

For your pumpkins, draw (or trace from an online image) your pumpkin onto orange paper.  Cut three or four out at once, carefully cutting the face out with a craft knife.  This will ensure they are all uniform.  Glue into position.

Step 5. Thread together.

Punch a hole in a fanned fold from the back, and thread your silver thread through.

  • Such a cute idea.
I would need to get a pumpkin stencil as I’m not a very good artist.
